ATI radeon not detecting monitor

..or rather it detects "default vga monitor" instead which won't allow the correct resolution. I've installed the latest monitor driver (using device manager) and this shows up correctly when I open Display Properties. However the ATI software still won't recognise it.

Any ideas?

Not stupid at all - unfortunately it didn't work this time even when accompanied by a bit of swearing.

Yes, it's worked before, but stopped this morning after i plugged it into another monitor( with a different resolution) and then plugged back in the old one.

No, not yet. Might be worth a go. I'll try reinstalling the ATI radeon software first though and give that a try if it doesn't work.

I had reinstalled it before but (i think) before the new drivers were installed, so I'll try again.
