The consensus estimate for Friday is that 188,000 jobs were added in January. This number is taken from 46 economist estimates and is basically the median number; it is important to bear in mind that the highest estimate is for 280,000 jobs while the lowest is for a mere 85,000. This goes some way to prove the point that economics is by no means an exact science.
