Anyone scalping the FTSE Futures??

Lawrence Summers, a former U.S. Treasury secretary, called President Barack Obama Sunday to say he is pulling out of the contest to succeed Ben Bernanke as chairman of the Federal Reserve.

What would be the impact on open...forex has opened with big gap

Dow gaping open over 70 points up.
What a start to the week. Come on 15,800.
Hope everyone is long. :D

In 2005, at the annual Jackson Hole, Wyo., conference of the world's leading central bankers, the chief economist of the International Monetary Fund, Raghuram Rajan, presented a brilliant paper that constituted the first prominent warning of the coming crisis. Rajan pointed out that the structure of financial-sector compensation, in combination with complex financial products, gave bankers huge cash incentives to take risks with other people's money, while imposing no penalties for any subsequent losses. Rajan warned that this bonus culture rewarded bankers for actions that could destroy their own institutions, or even the entire system, and that this could generate a "full-blown financial crisis" and a "catastrophic meltdown."

Rajan Raghuram is indias new central bank chief. how the hell a clown like summers would even be considered for the fed job is amazing.

where did that bl**dy gap come from?:(

Morning all,

closed any remaining Dow longs and holding flat for the open.

Dont like the look of the Dax and FTSE.

morning Dick and postman

strong weekly close on us markets has set the stage for more strength this week

morning barjon, the bull is back

Looks like it  but FTSE should be over 100-150 more had it kept pace with DOW while I was away last week. It's opened -12 weak vs DOW as well and another -20 as I write. No sign of it wanting to trade strong vs DOW yet.

morning tar will it be Yellen ?

GM , most likely yes :
"In July, Obama mentioned three possible nominees for the chairmanship: Summers, 58, Fed Vice Chairman Janet Yellen, 67, and Donald Kohn, 70, a former Fed vice chairman who is now a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution.
With Summers out of the picture, investors are betting that Yellen is now the top contender for the job, according to Brian Jacobsen, chief portfolio strategist at Wells Fargo Advantage Funds in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. "
