They have their application online thing set up now, anyone applied? Anyone got any tips for this assessment day if I get called to it, what's it like, what are the subsequent interviews like? Thanks.

Look at the site. Lots of leading questions, some nonsensical. Examples from the first page of the screening process:
- Are you a successful person? Required answer: Yes. If you're already successful, why apply to them?
- Do you know how Future (sic) Traders make the money? Required answer: Yes. If you already know, why not trade for yourself without letting them have a cut?
- Are you prepared to make sacrifices in your social life to make sure you always arrive alert and awake? Required answer: Yes. Who'd have thought it?
- The clincher: If necessary, are you prepared to go into debt to become a successful trader?
Required answer: Yes. Yeah, right, like scared money can trade well.

The site continues for another half dozen pages in the same vein. Lots of questions to which the correct answers are obvious lies.

They had emailed me asking me to apply. Having seen the screening site I won't. I can understand that they need to whittle down their list somehow, but I seriously doubt that this particular way of doing it will result in a set of high-quality applicants. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that I'll happily take the opposite ends of the positions of the folks who get through *this* process.

hi Arcadian - i recall your posts re. arcades - was very informative - just curious where you have ended up, if not in the offce at home.. and how it's going.. of course only if you'd like to share, thx, all the best.
regards.

I just got the same infrastructure at about the same cost working from home.

Out of curiosity, why are you curious? ;-)

hi Arcadian - thanks for the update - well, i have been trading from home for a year and a half - from time to time, i have thought about joining an arcade - however, most of what i have read about arcades has been negative or neutral to say the least, very little in terms of positive experiences - so i was wondering whether you have found a good place in the end - all the best in your trading.

Hi UK04, I also applied, I've herd that it is an informal interview and a 10 min test, but since their trainee trader programme is relatively new and they are calling it assessment day, things might have changed. I am really expecting a whole day with several activities, but I can only wonder what they will be and how could I prepare myself.
If you or anyone have useful insights to share, please do. Especially if you work there or have attended any stage of their recruitment. If you work there, I would like to know how you made it through your first year, and if things got substantially better in terms of your benefits.

I have no idea I'm afraid about the rest of the recruitment process, I am hoping to be put through to the next stage. Would be good to hear of anyone else who has applied for the April program.

Hi Arcadian
Out of curiosity which company did you go with,if I remember you were unhappy with most firms.
Newboy.
Just curios.

I heard there was an annual cycle in this business - struggling traders decide to throw in the towel over christmas/new year and the empty desks need filling in jan/feb...no direct knowledge though...

If you do manage to get one of the grad jobs, they'll require you to work very long hours, just hope you're prepared to do that ?

Unhappy is the wrong word. Skeptical would be more accurate. I did not sit down anywhere in the end, just sorted out infrastructure and a clearing firm so I can work from home.
