So you get in the car on monday morning, and you think to yourself,...'if only i was a trader, i could drop this sh!tty 9-5...blah blah blah...'

As jobs go, trading is actually one of the worst, brain numbing stuff. You end up hanging around internet chat forums talking about the same old stuff week in week out.

So keep the 9-5, cherish your colleagues and learn to love your boss.

We have an account, 10k. We are workers, so swinging is gonna be the flavour of the day. One thing you must understand and get your head around...you are betting, gambling, you are having a flutter on market direction and there are no absolutes.

Now some people in life are very particular, a little bit ocd in certain ways and everything has to be just so...the markets will drive most of these types wild with frustration, so if you are one of these types, be prepared.

Some people are learned types, academics if you like, they choose a field they understand and they are usually right in everything they do...the markets can hit these types very hard...in the throat.

A little bit of an intro, so stay tuned and most importantly stay awake.

You're doing it wrong imo. Move abroad, go live in Monaco and sit around Casino Square at lunch time sipping espressos? Shadowninja and I will meet you one afternoon.

Hopefully, i may be able to afford a short break in Monaco with this account, fingers crossed.

So what dya do? Firstly i'll have a flick through some charts, different markets, some FX, some commods...in all honesty it doesn't really matter which.

The important bit is to find something you like the look of, and throw your money at it. If you think it's gonna go up...buy the f*cker.

Chart trading is that simple. No need for any complicated sh!t. KISS.

NEVER START THINKING TOO MUCH AND TOO HARD! This will get you into a lot of trouble.

Chart trading.

I prefer candles, but there is a variety, average line, bars etc etc. No one of these chart styles holds any major advantage over the other, it's totally up to the user.

Indicators, i personally don't use them, i have no use for them, you use them if you want to.

Timeframe. The logic behind TF is quite simply what you can 'reasonably manage'.

Calls.

Join in, give me a heads-up, if i like what you propose i'll back it. Try to keep working and swinging/position betting in mind though. Be sensible, don't flood the journal with top-notch calls.

A 10k account with a pound here and there just playing the normal % variance of the instrument in Q. Even if they only bank 1 winner/ week on average, that could be a considerable % by year end.

CV, that's a little bit too much for this journal, mate. Simpletons we are (trading wise).

One thing we don't want to be doing is lots of trades. Why? F*ck me......spins are so out of fashion in todays trading world.

Only ballbags go for more spins. Clever cats go for less.

Out of interest, who actually works as a trader, on this site? I bet not many sorry-ass barstewards admit to this.

Little update. This week i really couldn't be ars*d looking at charts, markets and the like. So no trading this week.

Maybe next week i'll get my sorry-*ss in gear...no promises though.

Why ? What did you do instead

Don't make me sorry I asked.

A little bit about myself. I don't like cricket:

"i don't like cricket..i don't like cricket..i don't like cricket..i don't like cricket..i don't like cricket..i don't like cricket..i don't like cricket..i don't like cricket...."

10cc - Dreadlock Holiday - 7 inch vinyl, scratched.

And that's why i don't like cricket.

And instead work 12-14 hours a day as a trader..........

Sure, for some the hours don't need to be that long, but for many they do, for 2 reasons -

1. There's a lot of work to do and to make money you often have to be there at the right time, and perhaps more importantly

2. Many of the people you're up against, the ones who are competing for the same available profits, ARE putthing those sorts of hours in, so probabilities suggest they'll be better prepared and will have a better shot at getting the money you're after

...and all of a sudden, the grass appeared to be a little less green...

I'm gonna have a little go with the eurdol. I bought it this morning at a dollar and forty three bang on with a limit (no slippings).

Target. Dollar forty eight.

Stop. 50 pips (half a cent) for now, that's a dollar forty two and a half.
