Do prop firms take swing traders?

I've spoken to traders at the firms I mentioned and although they do engage in market making options/other derivatives or low-latency trading, they also generate a substantial portion of their revenue via directional trading (mostly day trading, especially for new hires). While it is the...

Do prop firms take swing traders?

I'll list a few directional prop firms that don't charge a desk fee, but in fact pay a good base salary (20-60K) and offer training for the first year: First New York Securities, Trillium Trading and Gelber Group

    Prop Trading: Learning to backtest

Since back testing has become an increasingly important task for trading assistants at some of the more directional based prop firms, how does an Economics major (econometrics focus + statistics minor) such as myself learn how to back test futures? I've got three more years of school and I'm...

Do prop firms take swing traders?

This desk fee stuff seems so sketchy. Most legit prop firms, as far as I'm aware, don't charge desk or training fees. Some even pay a base salary for the first year.

Do most prop firms trade intra-day?

It seems that most prop firms I've encountered insist that all new hires must only trade intraday, remain flat prior to major economic numbers, only trade a few insturuments etc. Is this the norm in the industry?

Trading In UAE Stock markets, (Abu Dhabi and Dubai)

This thread is quite interesting as I lived in Dubai for a while. Where can I view charts and other info for companies traded on the Dubai International Exchange (DIX). A friend of mine in bought shares in DP World (DPW) and he's been asking me for my insight and the charts on numerous...

    Futures Trading Books

After conducting a thorough search on this site, it seems a few futures trading books stand above the rest. Since I'm a student on a limited budget, I can buy about one book a month, hence, in what order should I purchase the following books and would it be necessary to read all these books due...

    FX Broker [Charting and spreads]

I'm looking for a good FX broker that operates in Canada with good charting and spreads. I currently use thinkorswim, and although it has good charting, the spreads are just awful. On the other hand, I used to use Oanada which had mediocre charting (can't say I'm a fan of their web-base app or...

Trading From Home To A Prop Firm?

^Agree with the comment above. Even Bruce Kovner (an aforementioned trader), had to complete his undergrad and pursue a PhD @ Harvard prior to joining the futures desk at commod corp. At the same time, it is possible to transition from trading from home to a prop firm, although the primary...

    Trading Firms Salary

First New York Securities and Trillium are the only two firms that pay a base salary (usually around $25,000 for Trillium and $50,000 for FNYS), that too for the first year only. After that, it is pure profit sharing.
