We need transparency - even today Malik is trying to stifle the truth by calling on the media to stop the bloodfest

We need tighter rules and for MPs who will uphold the spirit of the rules claiming only expenses that are necessarily, wholly and exclusively required to carry out their duties.

We need MPs who will accept responsibility for their wrong-doings and not to excuse themselves because of the system, they were too busy and all the other feeble excuses they dream up now they have been caught with their fingers in the till.

We need ways to discipline them, which go beyond the current withdrawal of the whip, but resorts to legal action if necessary.

We need MPs such as Margaret Becket to get rid of their smugness as exhibited on Question Time last night, to set an example and to return the amounts that most people would consider as overclaimed.

We need to remove these people as MPs at the earliest opportunity

Amongst the various alternatives to Democracy there is Theocracy or control by the religious lot.

Trouble is when they got everyone on their knees praying to some non-existant God they are nicking your wallet out of your back trouser pocket !! That is if they aren't too busy molesting the kids !

In fact there may not be a better alternative to the sleazy inefficient bunch of scumbags and a rotten system that we presently have.

Yes, we do, but to replace them with whom?

Sleaze and corruption is part of human behavoiur. It needs to be prevented from happening. We could put the very purest of the pure (I was going to say whitest of white) in Parliament but they could be useless in running the country.

This expenses racket needs to be accountable to a greater degree, in fact, everything involving the handling of money should be. We have a civil service for that purpose but we choose to allow members to regulate themselves.

Whose idea was that? Their own idea, of course.

In Spain, I haven't heard much about expenses, perhaps the problem does not exist or they do a better cover up but, my word, the bribery and corruption that goes on here is nobody's business.

How about trying to give quality a chance to shine ? None of the lowest common denominator Labour idea. Everyone starts life equal but soon a pecking order is made abundantly clear. So for every skill, £1k, acre of land etc you get points. So that people with more attributes get a bigger vote ?? What you inherit is not counted. Dimwits ( that's mentally challenged to Socialism ) and criminals might just make double figures !
