The end of the EU

No no Dragghi

We are used to politicians saying what they want but now that they have obviously failed, technocrats are having a go.

Again they have not got a grip on reality.

Draggies statement of defending the euro no matter what it takes, is just ridiculous. It is clearly failing and should be scrapped. Perhaps he hasn't heard of pulling out before the situation gets worse.

Cobbled togethor by an Italian nitwit and now being turned into a worse disaster by another Italian.

Are they being bribed to ruin Europe ? or threatened or just stupido ?

He seems to be suggesting he is really a bumble bee or something. Clearly too potty to save Europe.

I'm not sure why you are getting so annoyed Pat???

For once they have done the right thing and announced some action of significance. Whole issue is either unity or brake up of the weaker countries and they are moving closer together by having a REAL central bank to print monies (something they have already been doing).

Either way this is first significant announcement imo.

Not annoyed Atilla.
It seems to me that he is trying to push water uphill on this one.
I really can't see why some are so keen to dump their own independence and cuddle up to Germany. They are benefiting hugely from a weak euro.
Just how they propose Germany is going to stop national over spending and over borrowing, remains unclear. Without the Gestapo to back up their orders they might as well not bother.

Yes but by Central Bank means all countries have equal burden of debt based on popullations/GNP etc what ever rules they have for contributions and benefits.

Fiscal unity effectively.

By printing Euros then Euro will go down and the whole group will benefit from lower exchange rates etc etc.

To be fair the defecit countries in Euro effectively supporting surplus ones like Germany and France. Simply circular flow of money in the block imo.

It will ultimately lead to devaluation and inflation and debt pay off... Pretty obvious.

There is a simple solution to all this debt ofcourse. RAISE TAXES!

But don't mention that...

Yes indeed , armchair professor !!
Just try that on Spain etc. and you would be lynched by the mob ! Again without the Gestapo that is a non starter. The French rioted over just working 2 more years !

After years of socialism and molly coddling the mob aren't going to let taxes go up nearly as much as they need to.
And remaking another Gestapo is out of the question too.

Result deadlock. Europe is in for a nasty many years ahead.

One of these days some politician is going to repeat what Cameron said about " all being in it togethor ". The difference between saying such silken words and meaning it however is enormous. There they sit on the Govt front bench - the rich boys smirking away, knowing that the problems of poverty are unlikely to affect them in leafy Hampstead or some such place.

No we are not in the sh1t togethor. If the burden was spread fairly there would be a lot less resentment. While the Footsie fatcats are getting 50% pay rises on 7 figure salaries we are definately not shouldering the burden anywhere near FAIRLY.

And the problem is unlikely to go away in the near future through growth.

My advice to politicians is to do it fairly - a first in history !!

Definitely, an anti-German point of view. :D

No more so than if countries were fending for them selves.

I reckon the social chapter labour policies whilst not totally cool have acted as brakes on mass redundancies and rising unemployment as big corporations chase big profits and bonuses. This is why Europe is still not as bad as one might expect given the poohey situ we find our selves in.

Did you know that 3 in 4 people in Spain are employed. That's 75%.

Social cohesion is what is required for survival not isolation and taking care of no 1.

Raise taxation I tell you... to fix all our problems.
Redistribution of income is what is required... ;)

Good economic figures out of Sweden - they aren't in the EU

Spanish figures as bad as usual.

Conclusion by the Brussels sprouts - keep pumping money into a dead system. Imbecilic or what ? Necrophilic I reckon.

I see Madame Lagarde has changed colour - to black ? Is this their new secret V weapon ? or just another laughable ploy ?

This is what happens when a system is driven by political motivation rather than cold assessment of the facts.

Does anyone really know what kind of system we are in any longer ! It's certainly not free market capitalism, that's for sure.

Capitalism is where you get charged for everything. Nothing is free. If you don't like it you can complain but not much gets done anyway.

Communism is where you do get things for free without having to work for it. If you don't like it no one gives a **** anyway so no one complains.

If Greece stays in, Spain will, too. As long as no country pulls out, the Euro will survive. Once one leaves, the Euro will be picked apart by the markets.

No one knows, yet, what will happen, least of all the experts on here.

Give it a rest and go and trade forex.

You for or against independence of Catalonia? (n)

Could not care less, except that I speak better castellano than catalan. The socialists and PP parties may unite against the independistas and could, well, have a majority between them. My two sons are independistas, though. My wife and daughter are not. You should hear it at the table! :D
