SOCRATES Discussion Thread

I changed the title of the thread because, when you were disrupting the last one, new_trader, I said this:

rossored said:
If you want to discuss his departure feel free to start another thread, suitably titled, in The Foyer.

Note the bit that says 'suitably titled'. I did not feel it was suitably titled, so I changed it to what it currently reads before anyone (apart from you) replied. Judging by the response so far my re-titled thread was right on the money, although it does seem to have annoyed you rather a lot for some reason. Never mind, you can't please everyone all the time.

As for multinicks, rest assured if Socrates returns at this point and we notice him, he will be duly banned. As I have said before, he has had more than enough rope to hang himself with several times over; yes we have been lax in the past but no longer; thanks in no small part these days to the sterling efforts of Jacinto, Charlton and Barjon who are putting in excellent work as the 'mainstream' moderators. Thankyou gentlemen. :)

Now, this may be The Foyer, a largely un-moderated part of the site, but that does not mean you can go about saying just what you want. For example, if you don't particularly like this site, then of course you are free to cease posting at any time you choose; no-one is forcing it upon you. Another example is discussing the content of PM's, which is out of order (although this has not yet been updated in the site guidelines; I'll see to that shortly), and had the guidelines been changed would be the reason for your second infraction today; as they have not yet been changed there won't be an infraction, but you're aware of it now, aren't you.

Anyway I'm not sure this thread merits any more of my time than it has had already, so I shall be signing off now (for the weekend at least).

[EDIT]

Note the bit that says 'suitably titled'. I did not feel it was suitably titled, so I changed it to what it currently reads before anyone (apart from you) replied.

Exactly. YOU 'did not feel' and therfore YOU changed it to reflect what YOU wanted which completely altered the original purpose of the thread. If I was the only one who appreciated SOCRATES then this thread would have gone nowhere....guess that concept escaped you ay?

N.B: I only like to receive PM's from people I admire, respect and trust, otherwise I will openly discuss what I am sent if I feel it is suitably justified. If you want to know my opinion of you, feel free to ask by PM

Another example is discussing the content of PM's, which is out of order (although this has not yet been updated in the site guidelines; I'll see to that shortly),

One would think that amongst a group of people with even a modicum of character that the idea of openingly discussing the content of PMs would never arise. That it has to be spelled out is discouraging.

Db,

No! You would think that amongst a group of people there would exist a modicum of character...that's better.

Just a minute. Are you suggesting that insulting pm's should be included in this?

Threads Started by Socrates

Which of the threads Socrates started do members consider to be the best or just their personal fave. Mine is The Ledger, it would have been Plain Vanilla, that started with so much promise but went a bit whiffy.

The Journey from the Basement has most posts and views and I guess would get most votes in a poll.

Surprisingly only eleven to choose from, of which a couple don't really count.

"Journey from the basement," seemed to attract many, but how many people were looking for the grail hidden in allegory and how many enjoyed the play on words. Some might argue that from then on discussion deteriorated to the point whereupon every time Soc. put his head over the parapet someone would throw a "brick" at it.:D

I enjoy Socrates posts as I enjoy all members posts, I'd often be smiling reading though them and he has some very interesting points (points doesnt do it or him justice but ya know) he raises and as any member who posts, can send you or lead you to query a concept. Like the femenine side of the market, for example.

That could of been a good (eye opener) springboard for people (mainly men) who hunt on sight, and plonk themselves down in from of visual stimulating, attracting, price action ? Enter her(e) thats what she wants you to do yes?

And the moment you ejaculate your position on, you may be emotionally involved, enjoying yourself, then all of a sudden or maybe in a very subtle manner, your clamped in, she aint gonna let you go, your at the mercy and you will likely be consumed, you give it room, as she grinds her hips, sucking it out of you, more you give, more she takes ..... she love you long time :p

Cheers Socrates, cheers everyone.

England to do France tonight ,bloody French..... come on England. :p

This post was badly expressed. I meant that if anyone insulted me in a pm I would, certainly make it public on this board. If any one thought that I was suggesting that I might use a pm to insult someone, myself, then they should know me better, after all these years.

Hmmm delicious post CB. I think you have artistic writing qualitites. Have you considered publishing articles in Readers Digest.

Hey Split, everybody surely knows you're one of the good guys, I don't know where you get the idea we would think otherwise :)

I looked earlier in the FAQ after your initial post to see if the rules clarified what is right or wrong here, nowt. I think the admin have posted guidelines somewhere regarding PM's and spam, insulting or harassment messages, I'm sure I've read it somewhere in the past, something on the lines of reporting it to the admin or a moderator, surely this would be in the site guidelines.

My views are that PM's shouldn't be discussed in open forum discussion without the senders consent, bad form to just come out with what someone has written privately, worse is to use it as an attack! I hope they clamp down on this hard!

Cheers Atilla, I didnt know Readers Digest delved into headlines like Sex n Trading, whats the difference?

Incidentally, according to the worlds best finacial information platform BLOOMBERG, :) porn.com went for $9 millions of dollars, but wallst.com was up for auction yesterday ? and they posed the question which is stronger

Sex Or Money? I dont know what wallst.com went for in the end, anyone know if it beat porn.com ? Timely I thought with the recent issue of markets being femenine being birthed briefly. No such thing as coincedence, according to some mindsets......

I suppose if Readers Digest give me the cold greeting maybe a draft to Readers Wives might bag a result ?

An Offer You Cant Refuse ?

I have been requested to pass on a message from my friend Mr Bulldozer who wishes to raise money for charity. He has requested that the following very generous offer be made to all members and lurkers at T2W

He is offering £500 to your £100 that Mr Socco's ban will be lifted before xmas. [and NOT at Mr Socco's request]

He offers the following specific bet to Rossored. £700 to your £100 that Mr Socco's ban will be lifted by Summer 2008 [June] This offer is open to Rosso till end of Xmas this year!!

Mr Bulldozer wishes to see who has the ***** to take on the Bull! !

I'm not sure how the mechanics of this particular arrangement will play out, but I assume anyone who wishes to participate has Mr Bulldozers contact details. You must admit, its a tempting offer.

regards
zu

The first post that appeared after the banning of HRH was mine stating he would be back next week.

It was promptly deleted.

Why, may we ask?

This has got to be an absolute blunder... ? (socrates saying)

hmm well, i think Socrates is net beneficial to the boards. This is how I reach my decision. I do not focus on the personality (well I see it but thats a bonus of enjoyment, difference etc) but he does raise and attempt to delve a bit deeper, but as he would say, not laying it out on a plate for anyone.

Im neutral everyone else is neutral, lets get it on . If only it was that simple. Darksiders will likely understand the pointless task of raising awarenss en masse in a public forum as their paychecks come from the ignorant .

But I'm thankful to Socrates as to any other member, i'm thankful for discussion,

The thing with Socrates or any other member is this, if you disagree or want to challenge a point why not ask the/a question ? The answer ? well you may not get the one you want but so what , what does that say about other members? (fill in blanks at your peril) .

So I hope Socrates comes back as with any other member, and if neccessary lets discuss it .

Socco is certainly entertaining.
However, your above post regarding "discussion" is seriously misguided.
Discussion, as I read it, is about people having differing views, and after a series of exchanges, we are both better informed, even if we still dont agree.

Unfortunately, Socco believes he knows everything, and cannot learn anything new. He has a rather arrogant view that he is "raising our awareness", and that his perspective is the only correct one, and anybody elses is wrong.
He then shows that, ultimately, he has absolutely no respect for anybodys views if they clash with his.

Just for a laugh, I will take on the £100 challenge.
I will donate £100 to NSPCC or GOSH (Soccos choice) if Socco is re-instated before Xmas. (somebody needs to come up with a method of proving I have done that without revealing my true identity  )
THATS BEFORE 00:00 ON DEC 25TH 2007.

EDIT: Bulldozer need only match my £100, not the 500 as he has generously offered.
