New PC system

Using Firefox with NoScript extension is not a bad idea either. It is quite surprising how infrequently JavaScript is actually needed. NoScript blocks it by default and you can temporarily or permanently enable it for specific domains. Many web pages are improved by removing the junk.

I tried using Firefox but went back to IE. I do like IE7 which I use at the mo.

As you rightly suggest I alos have ActiveX and Scripts to either prompt or disabled . If I trust the site I merely added to my trusted sites.

Re: post #45 Shields Up-test failure!

I tried the Shields Up test from www.grc.com and my pc failed the ping test, also called the ICMP Echo, namely my pc is sending out a signal when prompted by remote computers.

I have an active Windows firewall. When I open that, click on "advanced" and click on "ICMP settings", I find "Allow incoming echo request" is checked. It doesn't allow me to uncheck it. Help please!
