Metatrader 4

QuoteTrader

Some of you are looking for FX from multiple brokers. You can use QuoteTrader with IB, FXCM, Onada, and MB with others being added. You can also run multiple broker data feeds at the same time. QuoteTrader is FREE, check it out here:

We are looking to add more brokers, so let your broker know about QuoteTrader.

QuoteTrader looks like a sensible idea if i understand correctly - give the clients something for free, & receive money from the brokers rather than the clients who enable it! Is this basically how the business model works?

MT4 comes with a lot of historical data via demo accounts - i.e. 5-6 months of houlry forex historical data. If Quotetrader doesn't provide access to a similar amount of FREE historical data, i would find this dissappointing.

If talking completely FREE forex charts, and using the data supplied by FXCM or Oanda, how much historical back-fill data is included in this FREE package from these sources?
Many thanks.

JTrader,

Yes, QuoteTrader is completely FREE supported by ads on the Quote.com web site. We are adding more and more brokers who offer different markets and some with back fill, some not. QT fully supports Interactive Brokers and Ameritrade's history data bases. We will be releasing a few more some with back fill soon, MB being a new one.

We also supply Forex intraday and history charting on the Quote.com web site using over 200 sources:
http://new.quote.com/forex/

QT also supports running more then one brokerage data feed at once, so you could have an FX chart from IB and a stock chart from Ameritirade in the same application of QT.

If you know of other brokerages we should support with QT let them and us know.

QT looks like a good idea and you it seems to be heading in the right direction.

I would suggest that the brokers who provide a datafeed without automatic historical backfill data are pretty much useless from a traders point of view.
There are few things more annoying than setting up a service like QT or NT6, only to find that what was advertised as a FREE datafeed, only comes with one day of data history.
This is completely useless and a waste of everybodies time.
Therefore i would suggest making it mandatory for all brokers who sign up with QT to be MADE to supply at least 5-6 months of hourly data (just like like Metatrader4 brokers do that i have come across with my MT4 demo accounts). Otherwise, the reputation of QT will easily be undermined, if it seems that the availability of historical back-fill data is a bit of a lottery from broker to broker.

IMO It sounds like QT has some way to go before they match Metatrader4, but lets hope QT do get there, because the more quality providers & competition the better.

From what i understand the esignal GTIS composite spot forex datafeed that supplies data from over 200 banks - is very jumpy, and again, not very useful for trading purposes.

Cheers.

JTrader,

Depends on how and what FX rates you are trading. GTIS is one of the top ranked Forex feeds in the world because you can see so many cross rates and from multiple sources. We also have it so the user can follow just a single source on eSignal but that greatly cuts down the traffic and sometimes misses the real movements in the market.

Anyhow, QT is coming along with more charts sources soon. Be interested to hear which brokers you are referring to with history data as we do work with many.

Before going to far down the metatrader route (or that bizarre esignal thing) take a look at:

http://www.smartquant.com/

Ive only tried the demo, but it absolutely blows MT4 out of the water, and its supported by IB

Yes but the point is MT4 & QT is a FREE product, smartquant is not.
Sure TS8.2 is also great, but it is not free either .

hi
you yourself prefer MT4 or another pro
in my trading i am using MT4 , but i heard about yhe others

INFO - THE FOLLOWING DOES WORK!

I just tried installing a 2nd install of the same MT4 demo account into a seperate partition of my hard-drive so that i'd be able to open 2 MT4 windows using the same brokers datafeed at once. One on drive C, the other on drive D.

It worked! I now have 2 MT4 demo accounts with the same broker installed, enabling me to display twice the charts, but using the same datafeed.

At first i thought the new install (into drive C), had simply overwritten the original (drive D), as the desktop icon changed, and clicking on it revealed a new install.
But i then checked drive D program files to reveal the original install is still there and working. Clicking on the terminal icon, loads the original. Right clicking on the terminal icon and selecting send to - desktop, has created an shortcut icon for the original install on the desktop.

I test these things, so YOU don't have to!:)

Hi guys,
Sorry if I repeated myself, but i tried to find the correct place to post my problem.

I am totally new here. Read a lot of good stuff about mt4. Decided to open a demo account via odl.

Installed the software, logged in, but it seems that it is not real time. Qoutes are not running and charts stay the same.

In the lower right corner i see a red and a green bar with next to it some data size (19/1 kb).

Did i miss something here. How can I start demo trading if i don't have the real quotes??

Hope you guys can help me out.

Leslie

Hi Lenar, Can you kindly advise if it is possible to run MT4 on a PC and lap top both with the same account number? If so does open positions data transfer between the two.
How do you change the account number of a demo MT4 to achieve the same account number on both machines? thanks & regards, TC

Just recently started with MT4 and I want to use other than with forex. The problem is that I search MT4 brokers that have it for stocks, futures, and options the only results are for FOREX. I love forex but I want to go expand. Have any brokers that have it for the above needs?

If you hold an US Passport, are an US resident or subject to IRS otherwise -- forget it! The land of the free won`t let you freely trade.

I don't think there are mt4 brokers for stocks, futures and options. Forex all the way!

When I display MT4 on a second screen I am unable to change the colour of drawn objects by clicking on the colour in the drop down menu. Instead, I have to manully type in the the name of the colour I want to use in the text box.

If I drag the chart back over to my laptop screen the problem seems to fix itself, I can select colours just by clicking on them.

How odd ?
