Hi just a novice here so, may sound stupid but, if for example i bet long £1 a tic on the Ftse and it went up say 10 tics, i then had an idea it would fall pritty quickly back, could i go short but place £10 a tic on and make even more money back or, do you have to go long the same amount as you went short in order to cash in?

also does anybody know where i can get ex dividend dates from for all FTSE 100 companies?

Thank you

Pietro

Hi Pietro
My first post so here goes.
By going £10 short you will indeed close you first bet off,
taking the profit in the process.
But that will have used £1 of your new stake meaning you are left going short with the £9 remaining.
Conversely you could just shut off your original position with an equally sized stake, but this takes time and the spread bias is always against you so beware.
Try and be aware of recent support and resistance and watch the spread bias alter and pull the trigger when it's in your favour.
By the way this is how Fins works I can't vouch for the other SBs.
Good luck
Tel

ps don't know about the last bit.

Simple comme bonjour
