A day's trading euroswiss

I was able to pick up a few more ticks on Euribor by the plan detailed above, so I've a total of 8 (16) ticks made on it today. I've also just managed to sell a lot at 43 on Swiss, not sure if I'll be buying it back at 42 or lower yet, but 42 is probably the safer bet.

The other markets seem to have settled down where they are now...

In fact, while I was writing this I bought back the above lot at 42, so that's another Swiss tick. So I have 3 ticks on Swiss now.

Right, another tick and a half on Euribor, and through an odd trade by someone else I was able to buy a lot at 41 and sell it at 42 on Swiss. I wouldn't buy at 41 now though. That makes a bit over £200 so far today, or about £150 net of commision, the bulk of the comission coming from that scratched 30 lot trade. If I can double that by the end of today, then I'll be happy as I'll have made two grand so far this week, which is the amount I intend to take out of the account each month.

I just wish there was some volume! The market's dead :(

Lol, things might get a bit more interesting now! I went to the toilet with orders in and have just bought 30 lots on June at 50, and I'd forgotten I even had the order. It doesn't look that bad a trade actually...

Well, I scratched the 50s... More interestingly I'm long 30 lots at 40 on March, during while I held this position it traded 38. It really "ought" to trade 41/42 and let me out, but it won't until the scumbag putting up a blocking order at 41 removes it (or someone hits it and teaches them a lesson). If they're trying to manipulate settlement then this will be a wait until 4:15 and of course during this time it might become mad to be long at 40 (at the moment I think it's a reasonable position), rather depends on the about to open stockmarket and consumer confidence figures...

My other option is to try to get out via a spread into another month.

And I'm out! 34 ticks on the Swiss now (oh, and it looks like it's going to come off, just in time! - actually might get a bit of in-out action now, which will make it harder to update this thread as I'm actually doing it)

There were large amounts offered spuriously on every month apart from March and Sep 09, presumably designed so whatever person put them up could buy the market at a bargain if the consumer confidence was low (it was, but not *that* low as to cause a huge reaction). I'm ready to buy now if the market goes a bit too low (imo), but of course bearing in mind that bottom pickers' fingers smell...

Sadly, it's not coming off to levels where I can safely buy it, instead it's going up (and should go up a bit more)... I'm definitely going to sell at 43, the question is whether to sell at 42 (assuming, of course, I get the chance). At the moment the answer to that is yes, but I've got to keep a very close eye on everything that's going on.

Unfortunately 1500 other lots decided to join me, not sure what their game is atm - hopefully it isn't to go long at 40!

It's occurred to me I'm not really explaining well at all why I'm doing anything. Basically I'm trading from news (in a very broad sense - a lot of this is what other markets are doing - I use reuters 3000 xtra for that), and from a feel for what the market "wants" to do.

I don't know anything at all about technicals, and although I have a long term view based on fundamentals, it's of no use to me when trading!

Managed to sell 2 lots at 41, as usual am trying to buy them back at 40, shouldn't take long...

Just made another 30 ticks through "proper" in-out trading, rather than trading news, I don't really know how to explain it, it's just something you pick up. In any case, I bought at 38 and sold at 39. Happened quickly enough that I couldn't write anything about it here (and when it is happening you have to, er, concentrate ;))

Right, that's me done for the day. I expect, if things remain the same (i.e. US rally continuing), that the Swiss trade 37-38 and then rise to close at around 39 or 40, but that of course depends on what settlement is and what every other market is at, so this is likely complete ******** :D

So some figures:

In total I made 66 ticks on the Swiss and 9.5 on Euribor, with values of 25 CHF and 25 EUR respectively per tick. My volume was 282 (i.e. 141 lots in and out, or about 3% of the march market so far today).

66 * 25 CHF = 1650 CHF = £725
9.5 * 25 EUR = 237.5 EUR = £170
Commission = £141

So P & L today = £754 (roughly), which I'm fairly pleased with as there wasn't much going on. I'm annoyed about my toilet trade, but fairly pleased that I identified the correct time to scratch the other trade.

Here is a list of all the trades I made, copied and pasted (looking at it doesn't seem like times are second-perfect, but they'll be right to the minute):

Anyway, I don't know if this topic has been helpful for anyone or not... any questions? I'm going down the pub!

Lol, just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get me :cheesy:

Not very long, nope. I'm a bit more aggressive and take quite a few more ticks profit now then when I wrote this thread as well, at least when things are volatile.
