I was asked to review a company by "newbielearner" and thought I'd post my findings here and get others to give me feedback.

The positives for Tradefair are they do 1pt on FTSE, have automatic stops on every trade which vastly reduces the risk of losing more than is in your account, they have 1 click trading which makes it super fast and you can also tear off the deal ticket and put it on your screen to watch which helps when your thinking about getting out of a trade but want to pretend your working. Finally they also have really friendly customer service people.

On the not so good side they don't have guaranteed stops but then most spread companies widen the spread for these so you end up being a loser. They also have a laborious withdrawl process where you have to ring up to take your profits - there's no online transaction here. They did explain this was because they needed to check my margin so it's sort of understandable and I had £2k to take out so was pretty happy.

Overall I would rate them 8.7 out of 10 which is the highest from the 3 companies I've been trading with.

Let me know if this helps anyone and I'll write a review on the others

Good post FT

I've been using CMC but had issues with them at the end of last year as I started being put on dealer acceptance - will see how I get on with Tradefair.

BTW which were the one's that you previously used

Previously used cmcmarkets and also fins. I really likes fins for the education pack but if you ask the customer service guys nicely at Tradefair they can give you a trading book from the naked trader (or at leat they did for me) which actually worked better for me.

The guys who writes it is Robbie Burns and I think he has a website although I've never used it.

Tradefair

I've got a host of spread betting accounts. I find they all have their merits. Although I do agree with fastrader that tradefair is simple to use. I find if I want to get a trade on quick and get a decent spread then Tradefair is nice and simple. I

Likewise, I recommend for anyone starting out that they get a couple of accounts have a read of the education packs and have a play with the platforms. Different platforms will suit different individuals.

Tradefair is definitely one of the easier platforms to use, however it does lack a some of the added news features of the more established platforms. In saying this like most people i use ADVFN for all my news and data feeds, so its not an issue.

never before have I seen such a skuzzy bunch as you lot, all on the same ip, falling over each other posing as ordinary members bigging up your sb outfit (n)

booted out you are, and the thread left as is, like a medieval heads on spears display

no, I just thought it would be amsuing that a company as big as betfair is resorting to such spammy tactics - obviously desperate!

they have a banner ad, so it does appear they planned to pump the boards as well, the more I look, the more of them I find, although I have only dispatched those that have posted. I can't believe admin didn't tell them not to do this sort of thing when they signed up for the ad.

Most interesting thread. I have a tradefair acount for the last month and it has been ok so far. As far as I know its betfair putting there name to it. i wish they wouldnt until all is ok as I am a big betfair fan. The high/low prices are an absolute joke and the system is falable. They did settle an error that was made in my favour and gave me a goodwill payment of £40. I totally beleive Betfair want to get into the finance markets in a big way but are struggling to do so.I have told their staff about this site and the bad rep they are getting, SO IF YOU ARE LISTENING GUYS WE LOVE THE NUETRALITY OF BETFAIR SO DONT BLOW IT AND FFS MAKE THE HIGH/LOW SPREADS USABLE. YOU HAVE THE NAME AND SO MUCH POTENTIAL. SO MAKE SURE THE SOFTWARE WORKS AND QUICKLY,MADE YOUR SPREADS RESPECTABLE,YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE GOOD,AND LOTS WILL JUMP ON BOARD

Every single financial spread betting broker have the same withdrawal procedures, i.e. you have to ring them or write an e-mail.
This is due to the regulation by financial services authority. There're a few brokers who are not regulated by FSA but I wouldn't ever use them.
Did you know that if your regulated financial spread betting broker goes bust you get your money back (it's up to £48,000), whereas unregulated broker will give you nothing.

Tradefair makes it almost impossible to withdraw funds.
I opened a tradefair account 3 month ago and credited £100 to see how their platform was performing. I found their order platform not very reliable, with orders going very quickly and no extra level of confirmation.
However, when I decided to withdraw my funds from their platform (£102 by then), their customer service refused to so,asking me to send them by post original bank statement showing my name and account details. When I argued that I was only asking to get the funds credited back to the card I initially used to deposit the money on my account, I was
simply told they couldn’t credit the funds back to a credit card (eventhough the credit card can be used to deposit funds… and is being charged 2%…)
It’s now been 2 months that’s I’m trying to get those 100 pounds back and I just don’t manage to get my funds back.
