Just looking to get some more advise on first and second interviews at prop trading firms, shops, or arcades. What sort of things does the applicant bring with him or her? If you have been trading do you bring statements, or do you want the firm to even know you have been trading? Would a guy where a suit or just dress business casual?

Always where your best clothes, it's easy to be complimented on making an effort and to then take off the tie or 'dress down', it is a lot harder to fight your way past not wearing the right clothes for the interview. Key is to always look your best at interviews when you want something.

As whether you would want them to know if you've traded or not, well, if you've good trading records then you should be proud of them and take with you in case they ask. If they do ask you and you're not particularly proud of them then, as always, tell the truth. You wouldn't want them to lie to you so always be honest.(bear in mind that traders are not stupid and will sniff out a rookie like a bacon butty on a monday morning)
Also, if your trading record is flawed in any way then they will identify this and look to correct it if they decide to take you on.

As for what to take with you, best ask what they wish you to bring, usually just yourself will do. They will ask questions which will test you as to find what they are looking for in a successful applicant.

Good luck.

My advice is simple. Let them know how much you recognize the value of discipline. Prop firms can teach technical skills, however finding a trader that has already tamed his emotions is rare. Show them that you are in control of your emotions and the job is yours!

always wear a suit as it will show you have made an effort, its your first edge over the guy who is dressed for a day on the golf course !
what to bring with you ?
a confident positive attitude is vital

good luck

Don't wear: brown shoes, white socks, cuff-links on single cuff shirts.

Do your research; find out as possible - balance sheets, speciality markets and so on. There is a good chance that STIRs and Futures on the Eurex will be traded, so find out as much as you can - for example, this week the front 4 (?) Short Sterling STIR contracts changed to half-tick, perhaps this would be a useful little rabbit (question) to pull out of your proverbial hat.

Oh, and practise aptitude tests. Alot.

Appreciated all. As far mathematics and logic tests go, should I be expecting mental arithmetic or given paper and pens. Im sure this type of thing varies by firm, but just looking to hear some feedback. Are the logic tests by numbers, puzzles, riddles or combination?

Min,

In the UK, the emphasis seems to on mental arithmetic - additions, subtraction, division - of large numbers.
