Get an imported bottle of Wray & Nephew white rum. has to be from Jamaica or it doesn't taste the same. Ice and a twist of lime.

However, you fail to mention one vital detail. The 'green ginger wine' must be Stones. Don't touch Crabbies with a barge pole - it's nothing like as good!

Scotch 'n Dry isn't half bad

(infact this reminds me of my 1st bar job... there were a few old boys who would drink "half and half"- half stout (mackays IIRC) and half bitter.

Also, Gin and Bitter lemon is a generally underrated drink. It's not cool, but it's nice.

Old-Fashioned Glass
alcohol
40%

Scale ingredients to servings
1 1/2 oz Scotch whisky
1/2 oz Drambuie® Scotch whisky
1 twist lemon peel



Pour the scotch and drambuie into an old-fashioned glass almost filled with ice cubes. Stir well. Garnish with the lemon twist.

In my drinking days I was asked what's the best Champagne I ever drank, it was a bottle of Salon, however, it wasn't the drink it was the place and the company that made it special. That's how I think of drink now, I actually don't miss it that much, right now I'd love a nice espresso at the corner of Le Rascasse or le Tip Top Bar, or an ice cold Coke after a days kite surfing in Tunisia or somewhere...who needs alcohol..

If you want a warming long drink - and continuing with the ginger theme - a ginger beer shandy is excellent. Be careful when you ask for it in a pub though, as inexperienced bar staff will assume you want ginger beer mixed with lemonade. I prefer a weak bitter myself, preferably under 4%, which has the added benefit of being comfortably within the legal drink drive limit (after one pint).
