Hi all new to the forum and look forward to learning and hopefully even make a little bit of money in the future with some help.

My position at the moment is im a sole trader working the tools at the moment and am finding it increasingly difficult to find work and sustain myself as my current trade feels its slowing to a halt.

Having a lot more time on my hands iv been researching into alterernate ways of making money. One of the first options and most obvious is buying and selling. I dont have a lot of money to throw at the beginning, but hope to try improve that as I go along. I am also under no illusion of getting rich quick or getting something for nothing, I understand its going to take risks, money and time in order to maybe make a decent profit.

I have looked into purchasing from abroad possibly using dhgate and selling over here either via physically going and promoting it and selling it and to also maybe use online auctions and such in order to sell. Maybe by using ebay and search engine trends try to get an understanding of demand and then maybe try to obtain the said product and try and sell.

Is this a feasible option or am I making it sound way too easy?

Is dhgate good or is it full of fakers and overpriced items just about everybody is selling already?

can you recommend any other methods or websites for this?

Another option i kept hearing about is spreadbetting. Now after doing little research, I have come across 2 views. Either people say stay well away especially if your a newbie, others saying its a brilliant way to make money once you understand what your doing. Now obviously I wont know what im doing until I go through the newbie stages and make my mistakes and learn.

So what is the general feeling about spreadbetting, if im willing to demo first, goto seminars and learn, risk low and so on, is it worth it for me?

What ids the bets way to get started apart from seminars and such, are there any other ways to learn?

Iv also read there are less risky investments that could be made, could anyone please give me examples?

I am constantly trying to learn and understand and come up with ideas to stay afloat. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions into what I could look into doing for extra income that would be brilliant and appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Well,...I will comment. You are obviously SO new to trading you do not even know what you want. That's like going into a Mens clothing store and asking the clerk to give you a suit that you would buy. You have no idea what you want the suit for...weddings, funerals, job interviews, daily work, clubbing out on the town with a beautiful woman, a costume party?....what? You don't even know.

You need to answer these questions before you could figure out what you need.

1) What is your objective? make money on the side,...make a living, money for a car or college?...Be specific...% per year you want to make.

2) What is the maximal risk you could tolerate? By this you need to know how much your acct could fluctuate and you not lose your stomach and get an ulcer. How much can you stand to lose before you vomit?

3) How much capital do you have to trade?

4) What is your time frame? weeks, months, years?

5) What is your personality?...Are you a patient person? Do you get bored quickly?

Seriously there are TONS of questions YOU need to answer for yourself before anyone can guide you on any advice in any specific direction.

I suggest you take $100 and buy these 4 books. Read them in the order I have listed below....THEN come back here and post a question if you need to. I suspect you will answer the question yourself. DO NOT TRADE UNTIL YOU HAVE READ THESE BOOKS. They will help guide you in your own personal search for the "perfect system".

We can guide you but you cannot start out with no concept of what you want out of trading.,...and NO saying "I want to make $$" is NOT a valid answer.

1) Dr. Alexander Elder - "Trading for a Living"

2) Dr. Alexander Elder - "Come Into My Trading Room"

3) Dr. Van Tharp - "Supertrader"

4) Dr. Van Tharp - "Trade Your Way to Financial Freedom"

Good Luck.

You sound like you don't know what you want.

Head to Investopedia.com - Your Source For Investing Education and read about investment in general then figure out if trading or investing is right for you.

Perhaps heading back to education may be a good option. What do you do as a career?

Oh my god you two definitely wrote too much for people to read or answer.. lol..
But I have to say that I agree with eegozi, when you start trading you need to know why are you trading? what do you want to accomplish? what are your goals ? Do you have what it takes to become a good trader and not only good, but also a successful trader? And in case you wont succeed can you manage and handle the loss? When you have answer to all of this questions then you should know if you have what it takes to be in this market...

Good Luck !!!(y)
