-15% or so. I really shouldn't trade by hand.

-15% is not bad at all- think how many people have blown their account entirely in this time? Try to gain a few % a year (aim for a -10% next year)... and in a few years time you will be breaking even, then into profit. (hopefully before you lose too much capital!).

Given the stock markets have more or less halved, and I learnt a lot from the 15% (which was mostly about 2 trades at 6% a piece), I'm fairly positive about it actually. Have to patch my account back together, but eh these things happen

Edit: Although having made 40% the year before, even if it was on a much smaller spread betting account, -15% was a bit of a shock.

Edit 2: On the other hand, feeling really clever for having emptied my share ISA in April. :-D

Don't be disappointed. As per my research, One forex broker who has Minimum $100,000 - $500,000 for "Managed account" has given loss of -3.5% for year 2008

Many forex brokers and traders have Loss for year 2008.

Others who have earned profit, it is +10% to +15% for year 2008

!!! for a beginner trader trading their own account to only lose 15% of their account over the course of a year is very good indeed (especially if the account was very small). I wouldn't expect to see this in 5 years time i'd suggest they quit- but i think this is a real achievement.

rnicholl doesn't say if the -15% is from day trading or EOD trading. If EOD and he is not relying on winnings to live on............if intraday and he is relying on winnings to live on..................

Oh, intraday, but have a day job that's my main source of income. This is part of why I like currency trading; I can do intraday in the evenings Thinking of dropping to 3/5ths time as of January to give me two full days a week to trade, though.

I think mostly I feel dumb because I lost 15% despite predicting the market would implode. Possibly by calling it in May, and having figured I was probably wrong by around the time it actually happened in September...

About +1600% before withdrawals. (This was from a pretty small acount though) With the **** you can pull as a retail daytrader trading your own money, you SHOULD be well up on the average fund manager.
