Im about to choose what University to go to. I wish to be able to work at a IB in the future and when I read all threads on this forum I noticed that the only thing that seems good enough for the IBs are Oxbrigde. The problem is that I do not wanna go to Oxbridge I want to go to Stockholm School of Economics. Their master in finance is considered 9th in the world according to Financial Times. Do you think i have a chance to get into a big IB if i go there?

First you should realize that it depends what for? To be honest, you could go to Stockholm, get a 2:1join a small firm & work your ******** off as well as being good at what you do. Then you are bound to get recommended or scouted. Get a 2:1 or greater, a 1st would be a lot better. Then just get as much work experience as possible. It also depends what you want to do for an IB. If it is an execution trader, there should be no problem - but believe me, after having experience in what they do - it's pretty much 50k a year for pressing a button. If it is being an analyst or in M&A, you need to be an egg-head, but you are going to be getting paid off-shore in bullion. I was talking to the fund manager I am going to do experience with, he says they first look at quality of degree (Obviously what it is in as well), then where it is from, then work experience & life experience. I know it sounds silly, just walk into any brokers in Stockholm, be as friendly as possible & try & organize work experience.

Are you going to do a bachelors degree or a Masters ???
Where do you want to work (which town)?
Did you do any internship in an investment bank?

Let me know and I can help :)

Assuming you are talking about Stop Losses? It should become pretty self-evident. Pretty much every professional trader uses stops.

Of-course, my sincere apologese for not understanding its context. I suppose there is nothing wrong with a bit of Rambo trading. All guns blazing!

There is another nice joke that I can remember the Rio trade.

A Rio trade is one trade all -in, but before you enter it you buy a single ticket to Rio de Janeiro. If the trade goes bad you move to Rio.

There are a lot of legendary city traders in Rio LoL, not just Russel Crowe [ moving from the City of London to Provence from the movie ( A Good Year 2006) ]

1. Master in finance
2. International, London, US, or asia
3. I will try to get a internship, i might pull of one at a big swedish bank. I know one of the richest traders in sweden, he is cheif trader over a team of STIR traders. Maybe that would work if i dont get a internship at Goldman Sach?

Oxbridge uni's will help you get an interview with Goldman's + career services like to help alot.
I think you are in the right track, intership is the way forward.
Will be expecting news from you

Hope all the best man
