Wanted: Long Term EA

I need an EA that trades off of a higher time frame and can run simultaneous to my EA. Does anyone know a good methodology that works? I'd prefer if it did not correlate to the method I'm using now, I'd like to have it run on weekly/daily/hr4 with small lots.

Also, if someone can provide this, I'll gladly swap them my system which does EUR/USD 15mn, 5mn or 1mn charts. It makes 200-300 trades a year with about 60-65% accuracy. It's coded so that it optimizes itself based on ATR and a few other criteria but that's no promise it will work forever. As always, one must have caution with robots.

PS-Don't give me any crap! You know if it's a piece of crap. Mine isn't, so let's be fair.

Or else, give me a good idea so I can develop a working system. I can't use my method on a larger TF because it would likely fail simultaneously with my shorter TF system. Meaning, big ol' account drawdown before I realize it's broken.

I've built about 7 profitable automated systems now, a couple reverse, a couple trend, all different pairs. 1 of them is even posted for free on the 3 Ducks thread, Full source mql. But they're all in QA right now and it will be another few weeks before I move anything to live account.

My long term strategy is good, but QA takes even longer on those so I'm waiting it out.

Also, I'll admit, goldman sachs did not buy my system... and I'm at work and not having a good time drinking corona.

I don't know what QA is either.

You still can't have my system though. to be honest it's not even mine, I had nothing to do with it's design or inception. But I didn't pay for it either. WHOOP!

Yeah MQL is metatrader. QA means Quality Assurance or -testing-.

I like your style. Doesn't suck for me, I wouldn't feel reward in it if I did not create it. I would always worry, what if this one breaks, how will I develop another one. How many times will I be able to google up a winning system?

You may be able to work that way, but it would bother me to know I had to rely on factors outside my own brain.

Pardon me for butting in on this little tete-a-tete but it strikes me as slightly over the top that you two are arguing about how good your EAs are when in all likelihood you will probably never know whether the other's is for real or not and even then how much it returns.

Only 1 of my systems has passed the test of 10 years 6000 trades. I finally got some more tick data to run good tests. Over the large selection of trades and scenarios it's unrealistic to think that many systems would make it. I had to trash 5 Expert Advisors and keep just this one.

What I did notice is that this particular system worked on other currency pairs and TF's, not all, but a few more than usual.

The point here is, if you have less than 5 years test or less than 1000 trades, go sell it on the internet ha ha.

Turns out my own broker had tick data on their site somewhere a tech support guy gave me the link. Also, after trying that, I downloaded metaquotes data to try. So I got a good round of testing in.

Forward testing matches what I show so far but I would need to test it for years to ever know. It's not trading off 1min charts or anything and doesn't need any unreasonably fast execution to be profitable.

So far so good but I need some better money management ideas to get rid of that 60% drawdown. If you test like anyone else, the system will say 18% but over time, DD will always increase. In my case...too much. Only had one moment in history that was a beotch, September 2004, some mega trend on EUR/USD.

At the moment I guess you have no money management built-in, it's just based on 100,000$ or 1 lot or whatever?

Seems to me the only way that money management will help is by ramping up your profits when your trades go more & more into profit. If you add another unit to your position every $500 you make for example, and assuming the trades last long enough, then your profitable trades will all be much more profitable and the whipsaws in the choppy times won't hurt so much.

But that's just a naive guess, it will probably be only half as effective as that.

Yeah that's a good idea. i'd been concerned only with trying to cut the losses when drawdown time came, but really during that time there is not much I could have done. i'll look at adding in some units during profitable periods
