Hi Genics,

I am certainly not an immigration specialist but I have an American girlfriend who thankfully lives here. Moving to America is actually quite difficult they are very strict on their visa rules. I will give you a quick run down here of what I understand to be the ways to gain a green card as a BRITISH CITIZEN.

1. MARRY AN AMERICAN CITIZEN (visa still takes about a year to process)

2. INVESTOR VISA ( I believe this is an Investment of around $1million)

3. STUDENT VISA (enrol at Harvard)

4. HIGHLY SKILLED MIGRANT VISA (pretty difficult to get, this is how actors/actresses gain entry, medical doctor, world class physicist, you get the gist.

5. COMPANY TRANSFER (work for a big multi national and get a transfer, probably the easiest way to do it)

If you hold citizenship from a whole list of countries including Republic of IReland (BRITAIN EXCLUDED) you can enter the USA green card lottery.

Alternativley, just bugger of to NY, trade from your rented apartment and leave when you see fit. Only problem is you would probably never be allowed back in to the USA again.

"Wanna go to the US" ? Are you ok?

Why? You missing people with guns shooting other people (with guns) at malls, schools, cinemas etc?

"C'mon you gotta be kiddin"

:)

one thing i thought, you get 90days on the waver system or what ever..how long after you leave can you come back again? surely you could do like 90 days there, leave for a few weeks then come back..and repeat..

Nope. They are flippin strict. I had to go to the USA 4 times in 2007. Each time I got grilled as to how long I had stayed in the country on my previous trip.
