Uploading a .rtf chart

Hi,

I am trying to upload a chart which keeps failing. It is a .rtf format chart - do I need to convert it? If so, how do I do this?

I am selecting manage attachments from the additional options, browsing to find the file then selecting upload. Have tried 4 times, but to no avail.

Here's a list of file uploads allowed and their max sizes, as your file is on the list, check its size, it may be too large to upload, most charts posted are in the jpeg format, if possible save your image in this format and try uploading again.

How do I save it as a jpeg? Sorry, not very technically-minded.

ok, lets say you have opened up a chart in paint to annote it, choose "save as" from the top file menu, choose jpeg and save it to a folder for your uploads

or if saving a chart from the net or a charting package, choose jpeg from the options when saving to your upload folder.

I'm sure someone can explain better then me, I tried :cheesy:

Yes, that is correct. Any graphics application which can support a specified format can usually convert formats using the 'save as'.

Guys,

Thanks very much for your help. Played around for a while and found another way of doing it - the charting package has a thing marked "print to clipboard" and this gave me the option of saving it as a bitmap file. I've (hopefully) attached a FTSE chart to this message and if it works my problems are solved.:clap:

Yeah basically you have to be careful with images in RTFs, they probably going to be BMP format which is huge. For example 5.6mb file RTF/BMP compared to 100kb jpeg/gif. Gif's are best for charts - perhaps we should write a guide about how to grab images, export them and upload to the site.
