Hi
Hoping that someone can help me out.
I run win98\athlon amd1600\512mb ram with a 40gig hard drive – partitioned into 2x20gigs.
Have noticed screen freeze on numerous occasions while running IB workstation and IB charts.
Reformatted and installed Xp but ended up with the same problem – though the screen was freezing without any programs running.
Reformatted and reinstalled 98 again but found that the freeze still happened.
Ran the pcpitstop test (thanks for that link Matt) and found out that my c drive has an uncached speed of 2 megabytes per second when it's supposed to be 38. Could this be the cause of the screen freeze?
How does one go about rectifying this??
Have heard that you can delete the IDE drivers for your hard drives and this could solve the problem. Have enabled DMA for all the drives but this has not helped.
Perhaps time for a new hard drive?
Any help greatly appreciated.
Cheers jon
