Where does Ukraine think it's going with attacks on Russia is a mystery to me.

What is the strategic objective?

What are they trying to achieve?

What bargaining power did they achieve from their incursion into Kursk?

What is the cost of trying to hold Kursk?

Did they think through their exit plan?

Just destruction upon destruction from both sides?

The only difference between the two sides is that Russia is winning and Ukraine is just bleeding territory, men and resources.

Zelensky is one very stupid THICK dick head imho.

Hi At,
I'll play . . .

There is some logic to this - albeit warped. It sends a signal to the U.S. and Europe that even though Ukraine has lost the war they can still win a few 'battles' here and there. This enables the MSM and politicians to say: 'look at Zelensky's brave and courageous fighters still able to make incursions deep into Russian territory. With a few more $billion and more weapons they can defeat the evil Putin'. Thus, the false narrative is maintained, the war continues and, crucially from Zelensky's point of view, he remains in power.
What is the strategic objective?
As above.
What are they trying to achieve?
Ditto.
What bargaining power did they achieve from their incursion into Kursk?
None - because if failed.
Had they captured (and were able to hold on to) the nuclear power plant - then they would have had a valuable bargaining chip.
What is the cost of trying to hold Kursk?
Immense. Ukraine used what was left of its best trained and most experienced soldiers, most of whom are now dead, injured or PoWs.
Did they think through their exit plan?
I don't know if this is true but, according to the sources I follow, the top brass in the Ukrainian military advised against the Kursk incursion because the likelihood of success was slim and, if it were to go wrong, the cost would be huge. Zelensky overruled their advice and insisted the attack went ahead anyway. Why? Circle back to my first answer.
Just destruction upon destruction from both sides?
Yep.
The only difference between the two sides is that Russia is winning and Ukraine is just bleeding territory, men and resources.
Yep again.
Zelensky is one very stupid THICK dick head imho.
Well, he's not the sharpest tool in the box, but I don't think he's thick, exactly. He's vain, arrogant and will do absolutely anything to prolong the war and hope against hope that the U.S. and NATO will, eventually, be persuaded - or forced - to join the conflict and save the day for Zelensky and Ukraine. I'm no medical expert, but my guess is that he's more of a psychopath than someone who's intellectually challenged.

Just my £0.02p worth!
Tim.

Thanks Tim and based on your replies, I'd say the only interests making gains are Zelensky maintianing his validity having removed all democratic due process and those making money.

I see no other interests (ie, Ukrainian people, Europe or US and UK citizens) gaining any financial or strategic benefits from this ongoing war. Tax payers pay and private weapons manufacturers and their share holders gain.

I'd add to that lists as Russia and China as well as the BRIC nations gaining.

NATO has taken a pounding in her credibility too as whether it is worth the paper the agreement is written on. It has only ever been used to protect the US.
