"Here's how I exposed Jason Arday and Cambridge" | David Starkey Talks to Nathan Cofnas

I won't deny that watching Cambridge University's management scramble to contain the fallout from their disastrous recruitment of the dodgy academic Jason Arday has been sweetly satisfying. These are, in some instances, the very same people who sprang into action against me back in 2020, casting me out of the institution to which I'd been associated for 56 years.

Their decision to offer Mr Arday a Chair Professorship - the most coveted position in academia - on the basis of his plagiarised and completely meritless work has struck a hugely damaging blow to the practices of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in higher education. They will regroup of course, and do everything they can to prevent further probes into a system by which white and Asian students and academics are discriminated against in the name of racial representation, but for now let us enjoy the spectacle of their humiliation.

There are, of course, grimmer aspects to this story. Far from being the kind of doe-eyed, dreadlocked black Bambi he presented himself as, Mr Arday employed some of the most aggressive lawyers in the country to go after people who were looking into his academic record. One journalist for the Times Higher Education supplement was investigated by the Metropolitan Police over his reporting. A student who requested they no longer be supervised by Mr Arday was accused of racism. Just as we've seen how DEI in the police force results in a young man like Henry Nowak dying in handcuffs while his killer stands over him chatting amiably to officers; we see how DEI in education can ruin the careers of honest, decent people, while charlatans reap undeserved accolades.

My guest this week is one such victim of DEI in education. Nathan Cofnas is an academic, a philosopher of biology, who penned an article back in 2024 in which he argued that academic elites were being dishonest about average differences in intelligence between different racial groups. This resulted in a year-and-a-half long investigation by the university that saw him effectively quarantined until his contract of employment ran out. Now working at another university, it was Cofnas who exposed Jason Arday's rampant plagiarism, after being alerted to it by whistleblowers at Cambridge. If it hadn't been for Cofnas's intellectual bravery, and the open marketplace of ideas that we now have on X, the chances of this scandal ever emerging are close to non-existent.

The day small boats crisis became a BIG boats crisis: Forty-nine foot mega-dinghy carrying 230 migrants - more than a Boeing 737 - reaches Britain

Labour's attempts to tackle the Channel crisis were branded a 'complete laughing stock' on Monday after a record 230 migrants arrived on one dinghy.

The huge number – more than the capacity of a Boeing 737 jet – crossed from France yesterday, prompting the Conservatives to taunt Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood for 'presiding over a complete and utter farce'.

The record-breaking mega-dinghy arrived less than two weeks after Andy Burnham insisted the Government's plan was working.

Measuring 49ft from bow to stern, it was 7ft larger than vessels which set previous records last month, and more than 10ft longer than a standard double-decker bus.

People traffickers are thought to charge around £2,000 a head for illegal passage to Britain, meaning the dinghy could have made the criminals a staggering £450,000 profit.

Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp said: 'Labour's weak attempts at fixing the Channel crisis have turned the UK into a complete laughing stock. Shabana Mahmood is presiding over a complete and utter farce.

'She's handing over £660million of our money to the French, who are pathetically standing around on the beaches while hundreds of migrants embark on massive dinghies.'

He also criticised the gendarmes' inability to halt such a behemoth, adding: 'This is now beyond a joke. The French authorities could easily have stopped a vessel this size from embarking in shallow waters.

IS THIS MOHAMMAD HASSAN ?
Screenshot from 2026-08-11 11-05-22.png

A student police officer has been charged after a woman was reportedly rescued from his car after being kidnapped and raped.

Mohammad Hassan, 23, serving with Greater Manchester Police (GMP), was detained while off duty in West Yorkshire.

A 999 call had been received shortly before 10.20pm, in which a woman could be heard in distress in a vehicle in the Manchester area, according to GMP.

Officers were then able to locate Hassan and arrest him.

On Monday evening, he was charged with a number of offences, including rape, kidnap, strangulation, sexual assault, theft and dangerous driving.

Hassan was remanded in custody and due to appear at Manchester Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

He has been suspended by GMP.

Specialist officers and various agencies are supporting the victim, who is in her 20s.

Drunk diversity rep woman who crippled Afghan veteran a police officer by dragging him along road with her Range Rover during traffic stop avoids prison

She was previously fined by magistrates for drink-driving and using a mobile phone while driving.

Sentencing, Judge Garrett Byrne said: 'You were over the legal limit, considerably so, and you were rightly arrested and cautioned. You then put the key in the ignition and made to drive off. PC Ward took hold of your hands to stop you.

'You then placed the vehicle in drive and drove forwards with PC Ward being dragged along, shouting that you were going home. You travelled about six car lengths before the officer was able to incapacitate you. Your behaviour continued by lashing out at him.

'PC Ward describes desperately trying not be dragged under the vehicle. He now suffers from very serious and lifelong injuries. Your behaviour here was absolutely appalling.

The most striking comparison is that HMRC collected £12.8bn in alcohol duty in 2024/25, whereas the Institute of Alcohol Studies estimates that alcohol harm alone costs England £27.44bn a year.

That means the estimated harm in England alone is more than twice the entire UK alcohol-duty revenue: £27.44bn ÷ £12.8bn ≈ 2.14

It would therefore be misleading to say that alcohol “costs the UK £27.4bn” and compare that directly with £12.8bn: the £27.4bn figure is England only, while the £12.8bn tax figure is UK-wide. Nevertheless, even with that important qualification, the scale of the external costs is clearly very large.

State school run by Britain's strictest head gets 70% A/A* grades despite Lucy Powell claiming disadvantaged students are being 'let down' by focus on academic subjects

Britain's strictest headmistress is celebrating her pupils achieving almost 70 per cent A and A* grades – more than double the national average.

Katharine Birbalsingh runs Michaela Community School in Brent, north-west London, which prides itself on focusing on academic subjects and a no-nonsense approach to discipline.

Her school outperformed by far the national average of just 28.5 per cent of results being A and A*, despite serving one of the most deprived communities of the country.

It comes after the new Education Secretary, Lucy Powell, said forcing schools to prioritise academic learning was 'letting down' disadvantaged pupils.

Reacting this morning, Tory education spokesman Laura Trott said on X: 'Looking forward to Lucy Powell explaining how these results will be detrimental to the children involved.'

Figures released by the school this morning show a third of entries were graded A* – against a national average of 9.6 per cent.

And 10 per cent of Ms Birbalsingh's pupils got all A*s, with two securing places at Oxbridge.

Some 90 per cent of entries were graded at A* to B, and students achieved an average of AAA across all subjects.

1,250 ILLEGAL MALE MIGRANTS - 350 LEGAL RESIDENTS

RATIO: 3.57 - 1

  • 'What are 1,250 men going to do all day?

  • You shouldn't have to feel unsafe in your own home':

  • Residents of tiny village soon to be outnumbered by 1,250 male migrants hit out

at Andy Burnham's plans to make middle-class areas house asylum seekers

Locals living in a village that is soon to be outnumbered by migrants have criticised Andy Burnham's plans to make middle-class areas house asylum seekers.

The Prime Minister said this week that he would make sure arrivals were not only placed in the 'poorest communities' and 'all parts of the country need to play their part'.

But locals living in Piddington are infuriated by proposals to house 1,250 males at a migrant camp near the tiny Oxfordshire village at Bicester barracks.

Such is the ire of villagers, where just 350 people live, they have voted to stage a symbolic referendum on leaving the UK as part of their protests.

'This is about safety, nothing more. Even for them [the asylum seekers], along that road there is no pavement, there are no street lights. We just have to be realistic.

'They talk about bringing them out of hotels because it is going to be cheaper. This is going to cost millions.

'So I feel people have chosen for their children to live here, to have that community and village life and I think that will be ripped away from us. You shouldn't have to feel unsafe in your own home.

'For me, this isn't about politics, it is just about safety and the fact that there are vulnerable people in the village. We don't have a pub, we don't have a shop, what are the asylum seekers going to do here.'

Burnham is 'bypassing' communities to move asylum seekers to disused military sites - as neighbours warn plans to move 1,200 migrants into quaint Yorkshire village will 'leave women outnumbered six to one'

The country that has sorted its migrant problem - so why can't we? The man behind a massive drop in asylum claims tells where Britain is going badly wrong

The hardline Swedish minister who slashed the number of migrants coming to his country has revealed how he thinks Britain could do the same – by toughening up.

Johan Forssell explained how numbers applying to live in the Scandinavian country had fallen to a 40 year low with just 4,200 claims expected in 2026 – compared to 95,536 in Britain in a comparable period to last March.

Since Mr Forssell's centre-Right Moderate Party took power in 2022, deportations have increased by 60 per cent and asylum claims have dropped by 75 per cent – numbers that Labour's Andy Burnham can only dream of matching.

Mr Forssell told the Daily Mail how ten years ago during the Syrian refugee crisis more than 163,000 people had claimed asylum in Sweden but since then numbers have fallen dramatically.

He said: 'There is nothing extreme about what we are doing – we inherited a situation which had caused enormous integration problems in Sweden, there were gangs and shootings every day.

'That is what sparked us on and we have seen some important results but there are still many challenges to overcome, most people who want to come here are honest and want to work but it is a fact that some don't want to do that.

'For many years, Sweden had a very different migration policy compared to other countries and what happened was that led to situations of very severe problems, for example kids growing up where the parents didn't speak Swedish.

'The parents didn't go to work, and it created a sense that politicians were not in control of migration and that is what we are trying to change here now ov
er the last few years and so far, so good.'

These are not the acts of desperate asylum seekers; they are the acts of opportunists, driven by an arrogant, medieval mindset of entitlement and superiority—as though they have arrived as conquerors and masters in a land they regard as inhabited by their inferiors.

NO - IN THE UK WOMEN AND MEN ARE ONLY EQUAL BY LEGAL ABSTRACTION.
  • When large groups of illegal-undocumented men holding a cultural mindset rooted in the norms of 610 CE (AD), and who have an instilled since birth contempt for an equitable and secular society, are permitted to roam freely within UK society, the principle of equality becomes meaningless: UK women are no longer equal to men.
  1. Ahmad Mulakhil: Afghani Ahmad Mulakhil was jailed for 15 years in July for raping a 12-year-old girl in Nuneaton, Warwickshire. Mulakhil, 23, was convicted of rape, abduction, sexual assault and taking an indecent video at Warwick Crown Court. Police said his crimes 'breached the fundamental values that hold our communities together'. Mulakhil arrived in Britain on a small boat in March last year and four months later attacked the girl. Jurors heard evidence that Mulakhil was laughing during the assault, which has left his victim with profound psychological harm.
  2. Sheraz Malik: Pakistani Sheraz Malik, 28, raped an 18-year-old woman in a park in Nottinghamshire in June last year. He was jailed two months ago at Birmingham Crown Court for ten years after falsely claiming the sex was consensual. Judge Simon Ash KC said Malik targeted a 'particularly vulnerable' woman. During the attack Malik called the victim a 'slut' and punched her in her face while she tried to resist him.
  3. Mehmet Ogur: Turk Mehmet Ogur, 27, was jailed for seven years for raping an 18-year-old woman in a park in Tamworth, Staffordshire, last January. He had arrived in Britain just weeks before. His trial heard how his victim screamed at him and begged him to stop. In January his victim read a statement out at Stafford Crown Court, in which she asked Ogur: 'Why me, why did you choose me to completely destroy when all I did was show kindness and empathy towards you?' Sachan Gautam, of the CPS, said: 'His behaviour escalated from unwanted advances to a violent and traumatic rape.'

FIVE LESS

The crash in Middlesbrough comes just days after five teenagers died in a head-on collision on a motorway in Ireland. The occupants of the other vehicle – three sisters and a seven-year-old boy – suffered serious injuries in the crash and remain in hospital.

The masked youngsters were in a stolen BMW travelling the wrong way down the M9 in County Kildare at 2am last Sunday.

Last night it emerged Mr Saddington had posted a string of TikTok videos appearing to show him taking part in high-speed police chases months before his death.

it is understood he and his companions had close links to the traveller community

A German school whose student body is made up almost entirely of migrants has been dubbed 'the most dangerous in the country'.

Karolina-Burger-Realschule, a secondary in the south-western state of Rhineland-Palatinate, has been at the centre of a national frenzy over the country's relationship with migrants.

Around 90 per cent of the roughly 760 pupils there are migrants, while roughly 40 per cent of the residents in the town it is based in, Ludwigshafen, are also non-German.

The school regularly sees brutal fights between students, wanton destruction of property and violent threats against teachers.

Fire alarms are regularly pulled, forcing the town's firefighters to respond to wasted call-outs, and fake emergency calls are made to police by students who falsely report shootings.

In one particularly harrowing incident last May, a 16-year-old female student threatened a teacher with a pocket knife, before she was later committed to a psychiatric hospital after she was initially charged with attempted manslaughter.

Education experts, who describe the school as being a 'magnifying glass of failed integration policy', are unsure how to tackle the ever-growing problem. One suggested simply closing down the school completely.

The ongoing chaos is so bad that parents are desperate to pull their children out, with one father bluntly telling a German media outlet: 'I want my son to change schools. I'm very pessimistic about this school.'

And they aren't the only ones. Teachers at Karolina-Burger have been calling in sick to avoid the chaos. German newspaper Der Spiegel reported that a third of the school's 53 teachers called in sick last week.
