trojan horse backdoor.agent.ba virus

If people are trading , thay need ,execution screen, and a screen for charts ,it seem,s to me that to keep your lifeline online why not pay £40-£50 for norton AV-. iF you go for cheaper choices it seem,s like a bit of a gamble,It,s like compareing spread betting with tradeing ,YOU go for the best spread, same thing as going a good AV ,or not so good one ??

I've heard of a lot of people complaining about Norton lately. At the end of the day, you are responsible for what you let in. It doesn't matter how much security you've got. You have the last decision on what to let in and out.
Personally I run all free programmes. I'm layered, if you like.
This is what I use:
Sygate http://smb.sygate.com/products/spf_standard.htm
AntiVir http://www.free-av.com/
Spybot http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=download
Ad-aware http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/
SpywareBlaster and SpywareGuard http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/downloads.html
WinPatrol http://www.winpatrol.com/winpatrol.html
Of course you must keep the definitions up to date. Antivir and Ad-aware have been updating twice a day recently.
I also run online scans regularly.

where has darrenf, gone do you think all the feed back we have given has smashed his PC ??

wHY DOES WINDOWS .Want to scan your PC before giving you a download .WHO is makeing these virus????

Well...........

I am still here. Thanks for all the suggestions etc.

I have been beavering away trying to rid myself of this virus. I've lost count of the number of times I've rebooted etc.

Anyway, I got rid of AVG and installed antivir as suggested. It found a virus but called it something else,( tr/start page.is) which it said it could not delete without rebooting. Anyway, I rebooted and the original virus file/ program (not sure which) now seems to have disappeared (from sight at least). Not sure if it has actually gone!?

Will play around a bit more and try some of the other freebies also mentioned. spybot etc.

Anyway, thanks again all. It's been a loooong evening ;)

Great. Let us know if there's anything else. We can run a HiJackThis scan to check you out.

Wow, just read this thread, turned off restore point and ran virus scan. Found 19 downloader agents!!! some of which could not be deleted (until in safe mode)....
Think I may do this a little more regularly.

Check out my post no.25
These will keep a lot of the crap out and notify if something tries to change sensitive parts of your system.
Another one I use which I forgot to mention is SpoofStick. http://www.corestreet.com/spoofstick/
Tells you what website you're on in case of extra long urls that you can't see the end of :devilish:

Dav10,
AVG is an antivirus program, been around a while, you can grab it off magazine cover CD's etc every now and then, and of course there's always downloads to go for. AVG antivirus is from Grisoft, I seem to remember - I'm a Norton AV Pro fan myself so I'm not that well up on it.

Zarif,

I think this is a new version of teh backdoor virus, I have had a similar version of it on my PC.

There may not be a fix for it yet and you may have to wait a few days before an update is ready to fix teh bug.

Regards
NB
