Trend Indicators

Morning All,

I was wondering if any of you had some interesting thoughts on indicators for spotting a trend and measuring it's strength.

I know of MA's and ADX (Average Directional Index).

Do you have any favourites?
Do you think they're worthless?
Do you think they're the best thing since the EoY bonus?

I have read a ton of posts favoring adx as a trend indicator. I personally find it hard to work with and have had better luck with mclellan summations.
