Hi,

I will be starting a back office role at an Asian IB, ultimately, my aim will be to trade in the front office environment. I am 25 years old but already somebody has said to me i will never make it to Front Office as im to old? Is this true?

Well, never say never, although the back office to front office route of 20 years ago has been closed off somewhat since the introduction of graduate schemes. It may be different at your IB though?? Contacts are your best bet I'd guess.

Hi JRP2891 ( sounds like something of of star wars ) - that is true i guess, looks like it could be some long nights out in London coming up then to make friends...

it is not true. there are 2 chances - contacts and young age, education and big head is the other. if you had proper education you could get into more complex products FO trading... but I think you dont have it...

hence... yes - you are too old.

25 to old? What is this football? I will get there one way or another, damned graduate schemes nothing more than a nuisance. Interesting to have 2 totally different views in 2 posts.
