No, at that time it was different....Tories HAD screwed up the ERM, Poll Tax and all other issues....That economy failure was directly connected to ERM debacle and GBP being screwed to the hilt by Soros....It was a catastrophic failure directly attributed to the Government of the Day....
You did not need brain washing...It was obvious....
But now there are stories after stories in Daily Bile that are just nothing but brainwashing...and alarmist....Look at China and India...they are forging ahead on a massive scale....and what is GB reduced to..?...Talking about Calais and immigrants..!
All governments screw up. That is why the opposition gets in at the next election. That does not excuse the populace for its lack of interest in how the country is run. Everything is fine until the crunch. We are, all, too immersed in our own affairs to take an interest in issues of national importance. If that is not the case, how is it that a very small porcentage of the population turns out to vote?
Take, for instance, the promise of a referendum, by both parties, on the Lisbon Treaty.
There is not going to be one. I happen to be a pro-European, but that is beside the point. What will the British do about it?
Nothing. They will go into Europe just like that. The problem, here, as I see it, is that the opposition stirs the country up and then does nothing. The result? Britain has been dithering and annoying everyone else for decades on its lack of direction.
Go into Iraq? At once! Just because the Bush administration wanted to, Blair put his hand up then, because the UN wanted us in Afghanistan, in we go. So it is and, unless we take more interest in our politics, so it will always be.
