why don't you voice your own opinion and take on things :idea: , rather than starting the debate without voicing your own opinion, and waiting for others to set the ball in motion.
Go on, be bold & brave, cut to the chase - that would be interesting :).

I travel the tube daily - NE London to SW London Central, Picadilly and District Line. Have been doing so for the last 25 years. No fear.

I recall it was worse during the IRA era. However, then you would just curse at the disruptions whilst they remove some old geezers laundry from a bag he left behind carrying his thermal under wear.

It's the same today. People curse the bloody terrorists.

This detention for 56 days is stupid. The police can use the powers without justifying it. What about that old man who got thrown out for haggling at President Blair. The police used some stupid bizarre terrorist / threat rule for removing him and denying access to him.

We criticise other states for being police states and look at us. What gets me is that a number of people who have been arrested under this act, don't get questioned or charged. Why not?

Smells of pooh imo. You can do a lot in 28 days. The police should justify why they want the extra time. Better to cut it to 14 days and leave Iraq and help out with the floods.

Brown is playing tough for the elections. What a great man he is? My accountant loves him to death... :cheesy:

I spend a fair bit of my time voicing my opinions on this board as it is ..... it's just that sometimes I want to hear what others think - surely that can't be so bad can it ?

Would have been nice to hear your views tho' - perhaps another time ?

I do agree with you HS, cause that man JTrader, would not even participate in a poll on cable to give his opinion and he got quite upset at being denied the abstain option...:cheesy:

So if you want to hear JTraders views don't hold your breath... ;)

My view fwiw is that we are on a very slippery slope .......... and we don't seem to care or perhaps the great british public can't really see . They even have us watching a reality show called Big Brother - you have to hand it to these guys ...... :LOL:

I'm not sure people realise that the laugh is not on the housemates but on the public at large... The cctv capital of the world some say.....

As for Gordo .... maybe electioneering but I get the feeling Tony handed him the play book and said read, digest and implement!

Maybe just a figment of my vivid imagination ........

Hi HookShot, Its just when someone starts a discussion that has the potential to open a REAL can of worms, like this one does, it would be nice to see their bold opinion at first, before leaving it for someone else to empty the worms out of the can and onto the new carpet!

I appreciate that you have contributed to such discussions B4 and would welcome others taking the lead, while you take a back seat - there's nothing wrong with that! No offence was intended!

I suppose its a deadlock! - you show me yours, then I'll show you mine :rolleyes: .

I think anyone who followed the conspiracy theories thread might be able to guess what my perspective is on the war on terror might be.............

The reason we cant do anything right is because of this stinking Human Rights Act. Can do this, cant do that. Terrorists's Hang Em, Intentional Murderers Hang Em, Rapists Hang Em, Perverts & Molesters Hang Em. Screw rehabilitation as we all know it dont work and it never will. Its just a dumb excuse so politicians can sit down and bang on that man has evolved because we dont use capital punishment any more as our brains are evolving.

CRAP - Thats why theres war after war all over and man has evolved so much its actually run with the efficiency of a business. A business that the top level politicians usually control as their personal cash cow.

I would have posted it in the conspiracy theories thread but ............. I'm not sure that I could really justify it at the moment......

There are certainly inconsistencies but labelling it conspiracy is perhaps a bit too far for me at this stage. As for heightened security.... I can comment since some of the measures go well beyond what you would expect .......... given the many bombings during the IRA era things "seem" a little disproportionate... ?

I think if anyone spends a few hours reading through the websites for which links have already been provided to in this thread, they will be a lot more informed about whats REALLY going on!

And how do you distinguish between the good and the bad? If you don't abide by rule of law than you are no different to the Terrorist?

If you make up the law willy nilly than you are still no different to some football hooligan who make up rules of engagement about fights before and after a match?

Hang terrorists by all means, I agree. But how do you identify them first?

JTrader has a point HS. You could give us your view on Brown's new detention rules?

Would you say he has jerked his knee in response to the recent terrorist attacks?

Do you think this jerk was a measured jerk of the knee or more of an uncontrolled flinch?

How do you think the markets will respond to a Brown or Cameroon win in the near elections due upon us?

Which man do you think the terrorists would vote for or would like to win? Is this what G.Brown really telling us. That he wishes to upset the terrorists so we vote for him as I'm sure we all would like to hangem?

Let those worms roam wild and free and make sure you recycle the can...

As you know J this is a difficult one because if it's tagged conspiracy theory then many objective people just switch off... I was attempting to take a random mind walk through this thing based on little bits of inconsistencies here and there ...

One such "inconsistency" is the absence of a terror attack on US soil since 911 ... I'm glad there hasn't been I have many relatives there but .... it seems a little odd.. improbable almost..

you seem to have a hang up on the word conspiracy. Don't let this word make you think that accounts that are opposed to the "official" explanation are all BS!

eg. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/athletics/4512862.stm Dwain Chambers admitted conspiring with Balco pharmaceuticals to gain an unfair THG chemical advantage over his co-athletes.....the point being, conspiracy is just a word!
