The secret of your success? 10,000 hours | News

Author Malcolm Gladwell discusses some interesting aspects of success.
Namely, raw talent is not sufficient, but perseverance is more likely to be an indicator of success in life.
The "magic" figure of 10,000 hours relates to the amount of effort required to reach a point of insight and knowledge to be called "exceptional", "genius", etc.

Are the best traders the ones who stuck at it, even if it meant blowing an account or two, until market behaviour were an integral part of their thinking?

(still looking to make my fortune in just 5 minutes a day)

10,000 = 5 years, 40 hours a week. So I've got well over that.

I actually think that much of my learning has been unproductive and that "good" trading could be acquired more quickly with less pain if proper training was available. No accounts blown ... money management keeps the learning at the pain level rather than disaster.

10,000 of most people hours does not generate genius sadly. Think how many athletes put in 10,000 hours and how few win the grand slam. How few scientists get a Nobel. But, having watched half an hour of Millionaire Traders I see how far I've come - was I ever that naive?
