Above quote made me easier to understand stocks.
We have to consider about the business behind the stock.

Will it run for years?
Will it make profits?
Will it have to face alternatives/competitors?
Will it go for R&D and make new products/new inventions?
Has it a good management/leaders?

Price to book value (PBV)?
Price to Earnings ratio(PE)?
