Can anybody tell me what the margins are for UK/US shares when you set a stop with IG. They claim that its substantially lower yet won't tell me over the phone.

When you're logged on IG, hit the tool button near the top, when that's up hit the tradesence databank, the leverage and margin module may help with your queries.
There is a formula in there for deposit requirements when using non-guaranteed stops, with examples.
