I am new to Forex, simply using demo accounts at this time. One thing that puzzles me at this time is that apparently metatrader is purely a ticket based number, i.e. if multiple trades for the same pair are outstanding, they are not aggregated.
Can somebody confirm that I cannot do the following in metatrader:
- Buy 2 lot of EURUSD @ price A
- Sell 1/2 of the previous (1 lot) but @ price A+x
- Sell second 1/2 of the previous (1 lot) later at price A+y
Trying to do that would result in 3 open trades, instead of being back to 0 open trades.
This seems to severely restrict the way in which to manage positions. Is this true? Is this true for all brokers (my understanding is that at least Oanda would allow the scenario described above, not confirmed yet).
