Information for beginners - a series of posts gleaned from Forex Factory aimed at those hoping to become profitable traders rather than fodder for the peddlers of dreams infesting most sites these days. It cannot guarantee success but at least it might stop the bad habit of putting your hand into the sharks mouth:)
Some will go on to becoming profitable traders; eventually the biggest obstacle to success is you.:)

This is rather interesting and I would like to hear other responses as well. I mean if a legendary member who obviously been a member for very long raises this concern it is something to consider. Of course everyone will make that decision individually.

This really isn't on. First of all, what you post is in direct breach of the guidelines you signed up to:

"2.1 You can mention, link to, or discuss other Web sites that are of interest to our members, as long as they don't violate any of our guidelines. Please don't use our community to generate traffic for another trading community. We'll delete posts that mention or link to our competitors for the sole purpose of encouraging our users to participate elsewhere."

If you were not someone of considerable tenure here and who's views I respect then I would have deleted it, especially as there is similar information right here for the newer trader.

But that's not the issue. We have a problem and posts like these don't help. You are right to point out that numbers are well down so do we try and fix it or do we leave it to decline further?

As somebody pointed out on the other thread, it is as much the members responsibility as it is ours to make this a worthwhile place to be.

It is very easy to comment on decline and be very wise after the fact, it is also very easy to say that the alternatives are so much better (which they rarely are). What is much harder is fixing something that is clearly not as it should be.

I'll be doing my part in the coming months as will everybody else on the staff, what will you and the members be doing?

Steve

Steve, I am afraid you are coming across as a bit of a tit !
I assumed, a long time ago, that Trade2win was to be a place where traders, and those aspiring to be such, would exchange information and enter discussions with a view to improving the lot of the trader, particularly profitability and information about scam artists or those intent on feeding off the naivity of new traders ( even some hardboiled one's:)).
I am astonished that you have the temerity to assume that I am anti Trade2Win, and by inference its' membership. If I pick out pieces of information that I feel would improve the lot of the trader or, at least provoke discussion and comment from those who are experienced and profitable, then one would assume such information would be welcomed. It may shock you to know that many do not rely on T2W as the font of all knowledge and that such other sites have their own specialisms and popular trading threads (James16 for example which is one among several I keep abreast of). Frankly, I am not interested in any of your more restrictive guidelines (especially about sharing information) and consider it my right to share information - it is your job to make T2W a site where all information needed to trade successfully is contained therein, or (preferably) a place where people can share information whatever its' provenance. If it annoys your advertisers then, frankly, I do not care.
So, to conclude; if you don't like my concept of T2W membership, or what I post, then I suggest you ban me.
I suppose what I am trying to say is; I don't give a **** !

Off with his head!

Neil is one of the few people whose posts I read when I see him coming up on the new posts section.
I have never known him to be malicious and damaging to t2w like so many others who are tolerated and even encouraged on t2w.
His posts tend to be helpful and point people in interesting directions. I am absolutely certain that no negative motive was intended. The guy is clearly decent and honourable and has a long history of useful contributions here.
I do understand the discomfiture of seeing a member refer to other sites and how that would cause irritation, but that's life. I've put up with a great deal of merde (French) in the 12 years I've been here but it's water off a duck's back as I know it's come from trolls. the ignorant and the hate consumed.
If tons of bricks have to be dropped on anybody, then Neil is the wrong target.
Maybe a polite quiet PM to him might have been more appropriate.

I see the mod, ffsear, has censored the CEO's post !
Maybe mine won't be the only head rolling around on the ground under the guillotine !

WTF?

Is Trade2win as lifeless as it seems to me?

The answer must be 'YES'. This is the 2nd thread in a week that neil has started where he promotes Forex Factory as the place to learn how to trade. Why are you wasting time on Trade2win? Forex Factory is the place to be!

New Trader I feel you have totally misunderstood why I post. it has nothing to do with any perceived lack of content in T2W and I certainly am not advocating that people jump ship to go elsewhere since there are good educational posts and discussions here on T2W. I post simply to debate or hopefully assist new traders in their journey to profitability. Okay, sometimes I post to express irritation at some posts, and to express my odd brand of humour. But no, I am not advocating anywhere else is better than T2W, simply different with different content which can be combined, even contrasted with other sites. Finally, if I post content from elsewhere I always acknowledge the source so that others can check and comment. As with all sites, experience teaches you to recognise those few posters, on whatever site, who know what they are talking about and whom you feel speak to you on a constructive level.
Am I banned yet?

This is all very tedious!

Okay - what have I done now ?

Explain the "tedious" bit because I am indeed puzzled if your curt remark includes me. At least I do not attack anyone with the degree of rudeness that someone on another post expressed towards Trader333 who was genuinely trying to help the arrogant and rude original poster.

So -explain "tedious" and, if indeed I am included in your testy comment, then do me the courtesy of banning me and I wont bother you anymore !

Steve, I am afraid you are coming across as a bit of a tit !

Well I have been called worse:D

I assumed, a long time ago, that Trade2win was to be a place where traders, and those aspiring to be such, would exchange information and enter discussions with a view to improving the lot of the trader, particularly profitability and information about scam artists or those intent on feeding off the naivity of new traders ( even some hardboiled one's:)).

Absolutely agree.

I am astonished that you have the temerity to assume that I am anti Trade2Win, and by inference its' membership.

I don't assume you and the members are anti Trade2Win and I don't see how you get this from what I said, but I don't want to make this about the words so i'll try again. The point I was making was pretty straightforward and it was about the bigger picture. When I came here there were several things that needed dealing with as a priority.

Some of these things were made clear to me by the members and some of them were as a result of my own thoughts. Anyway, I got on with dealing with those things and whenever any issues have come up since I have dealt with them too.

What irritates me is when I read stuff about T2W doing this or not doing that with no actual evidence from recent times - it is all historical and that serves no purpose at all. If is is more recent then I have always made myself available and dealt with what has been thrown at me.

Now, clearly I have not done enough and I have to change this.

And this is what I meant about the members, it is not my job alone and if we can't draw a line under the past, look at what we have and how to build on it then we'll go nowhere."

If I pick out pieces of information that I feel would improve the lot of the trader or, at least provoke discussion and comment from those who are experienced and profitable, then one would assume such information would be welcomed.

It is, but you were wrong to provide a direct link that will take people away from here especially when we already have educational content that we point our newcomers toward.

It may shock you to know that many do not rely on T2W as the font of all knowledge and that such other sites have their own specialisms and popular trading threads (James16 for example which is one among several I keep abreast of).

That's not a shock, that is how it should be.

Frankly, I am not interested in any of your more restrictive guidelines (especially about sharing information) and consider it my right to share information

You see here we go again, I keep reading about these restrictive guidelines when they are nothing of the sort. These were all cleaned up and simplified some time ago so to make it sound like I have invented this guideline to censure you is incorrect. When I gave members the opportunity to shape the guidelines do you know how many takers there were?

- it is your job to make T2W a site where all information needed to trade successfully is contained therein, or (preferably) a place where people can share information whatever its' provenance. If it annoys your advertisers then, frankly, I do not care.

I'm not sure about the reference to advertisers, what do you mean?

So, to conclude; if you don't like my concept of T2W membership, or what I post, then I suggest you ban me.
I suppose what I am trying to say is; I don't give a ****

Why would I ban you? And I think you do give a ****, if you did not then we would not be having this conversation, and I am happy to have a real conversation at any time by phone/skype if you want to develop these themes a bit more.

Steve you quoted this guideline:

"2.1 You can mention, link to, or discuss other Web sites that are of interest to our members, as long as they don't violate any of our guidelines. Please don't use our community to generate traffic for another trading community. We'll delete posts that mention or link to our competitors for the sole purpose of encouraging our users to participate elsewhere."

So according to this guideline we CAN link to other sites, but we can't encourage traffic. But a link by its nature encourages traffic to another website. The guideline doesn't really make sense, but that's just me.

I don't really understand the problem here. I understand the issue the site has, but Neil has posted these previously and there was no problem before, I've not long ago directed people to the Forex factory news calendar, and nothing was said. I don't think it creates a great atmosphere if links like this are deleted.

Sorry. I'm new around here. What has this got to do with trading?

I don't think anything. Just a discussion among the legndaries about this forum. One of their own broke ranks it appears there is a split now.

Steve's response reveals the sites total lack of self confidence in their own product. You can't compete against FF by banning links, and if you honestly believe you can, its time to hang up your boots.

It's also a pretty hypocritical response given the sites all alledged purpose to provide solid advice and guidance to new traders. When a member of Neal's experience provides a link, he's doing so because he believes that the content is of genuine benefit, he's not doing it because he's being paid 7 cents per post by mr Wong's click factory in Manila.

At the same time commercial operators who are abusing the site and its membership are pretty much given free reign to do so. You honestly couldn't make it up.
