simulation trading brokerage that supports an API

Hi all,

I would like to test some of my "automated" trading strategies in a simulated real world environment. I currently have excel sending signals to me by email, and I add them to a yahoo finance portfolio to track performance.

However I would now like to actually see how well my trades would do if they were actually mechanically placed, rather than just notified. Does anyone know of a brokerage, or online portfolio management tool that would allow me to place simulated trades via http or other API calls?

Try Interactive Brokers...seems to be the most advanced retail/small institutional brokerage. This is not a plug for them, they have many issues just like all brokerage firms...BUT do seem to have the best technology for retail automated traders.
