Simple Question

Hey all,

I am not a trader but a PhD student who wants to do some research with intraday historical data on FTSE 100 and DAX. I am looking for data that goes as far back as possible (hopefully back till 2000) and data that is around 5 min-15 mins. Is anyone aware of a service that provides such data cheapish?

I checked out tickdata.com, but their prices are really high. It would take me a while to ask the university for funding on this, and I want to start right away on my own expense.

I looked into this a while ago for my masters. I couldn't find anything that didn't run into the thousands of pounds. Let me know if you if have any luck!
