in choosing a broker I would recommend you focus on ensuring they are solvent and dont go broke

Could you please clarify your question. There are different types of software available in market but depends on what you need for. Some brokers offer tailor-made software which is good. So, you don't need to memorize all the buttons.

Hey Michelle, what did you end up with?

I've been using Ensign (Ensign Charting Software) software with an eSignal feed (Online Trading Software | eSignal Trading Platform - Stocks, Forex, Options & Futures) for ages. It's one of the best setups in my experience.
