Have no idea what they are on about-are they saying the spread between the future and the index always diminishes? Not true- it comes down to zero as it logically must but how can you trade the index? I sell premium in a variety of ways and have been trading for 10+ years. I'm a crap trader but on balance have made ok returns. I usually trade iron condors,but am looking at a variation of diagonals.

I don't understand why he's showing the futures/spot spread due to carrying costs diminshing over time, then switching over to options time decay. I think that only serves to confuse the issue.

I think if the underlying stays on one side or the other of the straddle strike price, the position will do well. It will nickel and dime you to death if it chops back and forth across the strike price.
