hello i am new member, learning share dealing from hand book,
i have found a halifax share certificate.
it was for 307shares in 1997
then in 1999 recieved i repayment of 198.35p and the number dropped too 283 shares, this is a was share buyback,
then in 2009 Lloyds banking group sent me payment for.
number of open shares not taken up 155,
net price of the open offer shares sold in market 59.88p,
premium per share 21.45p
compensatory payment 33.24p
and reduced the number of shares to 251.
my question is do these figures sound about right? the payment of 33.24p seems small now i know the full value of these shares, spoke to Lloyds on phone and they said its was compensatory payment, which told me virtually nothing.robin

actually, i think lloyds banking group is a merger of halifax and lloyds and from what i can make out from their charts is the shares went down to 20p in 2009 and are now struggling to reach 60p thats why payment was so low and no dividends, is that right?

more or less, although you've missed a step: Bank Of Scotland bought Halifax about ten years ago, and HBOS was then rescued by Lloyds during the banking crisis in 2008 when the HBOS equity all but went to zero.

Speak to the registrars, they'll send you a new share certificate.
