What percentage of traders do you think actively seek to improve their trading through forums?
I guess you could sub divide this into SBers in the UK and what percentage of them are just having a punt.
There is a wealth of information online but even before SB and CFDs, a lot of people would have a punt on stocks without knowing anything about them let alone valuations, dividend pricing, etc. so it can't be that much different. I suspect that SBing looks a bit more involved to most people than the old fashioned way of buying stocks.

Set up a poll. As unscientific as it is, it is better than speculations.
yes, but juts discussing, as unscientific as it is I'm not sure a poll on a forum largely frequented by traders trying to improve their trading will give a valid result :cheesy:

I certainly don't try to improve it from trade2win... but you'd have to be a bit of an idiot not to be trying to constantly be improving your trading in general...

People here generally fall into 3 categories

- Those looking to learn stuff
- Those looking to fleece the members (although fleecing the staff is easier)
- Those that need to stop making boredom trades

I certainly came here looking to learn stuff.

I'm not so much worried about the T2W guys or anyone on a forum apart from the sheisters charging for things. Just wondering how many SBers are actually random punters having a go.
It's not quite poker where you have people studying the game, and then random gamblers too. I would imagine most SBers actually have an interest in the financial markets but then a lot of people invest in shares with no real reason other than to "have a go".

I will try to learn anything I can from any source I can if it will improve my trading. And I've recieved some great advice here and on other forums. That being said, forums are just fun too. Plus when I have a particularly bad day it's nice to come here and look for something lighthearted to soften the mood, or just lament to/with people who actually know what the f*&^k I'm talking about.

Well I'm in it to improve my trading. There's no point standing still. I often have to run just to do that anyway.
I have to say that although T2W doesn't always offer the most focussed threads to improving trading from, over time I have learnt a hell of a lot from here and there, whilst also having a lot of my trading preconceptions challenged from what I have read,- made me think about things differently. No names required cos lots have contributed to one extent or another.
Thanks a lot

problem is with forums is you have so many methods and charts and opinions you can create doubt and uncertainty in your trading

I think thats true, but I kind of waited until some useful ideas solidified in my mind.
I can still find myself tripping up again if I start thinking too much though.
esp now I am giving shorter TF a go.

i have actually banned myself from looking at anyone's trades/views/strategy, just neutral threads like this

Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there.
