I've just been reading on a general news site about new technology for 2006, and number 1 was a new release of Windows - called Windows Vista.
It seems to enable you to play multiple games in 3D, but more relevant to our purposes it promises to have stronger security and prevent hacking etc. I suppose it's more important for those of us who are short term/day traders as opposed to those who log in for 20 minutes a day, place their orders, and then manage to have a meaningful life outside of trading!!!
Does anyone on here know any more about it?
Does anyone intend to upgrade to it from XP from day 1?
I normally wait for 6 months after the initial release until all the bugs and corresponding fixes are bedded in before upgrading. My general view is "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".
I'm sure that some time later Microsoft will withdraw support for XP, although from my point of view it seems to be extremely stable anyway.
I've also noticed a few on this site have shunned Microsoft for Linux instead, and seem generally to be happy with their choice. Unfortunately, I'm not technically confident or competent enough to try such a change.
What's the general consensus from all you techies out there?
