"New since last visited" icon to appear next to thread title

I have noticed on elitetrader - an american site there is a very useful and convenient tool that notifies the reader if there are any new posts since the last visit to the site. It appears in the form of an icon next to the thread's title.
Since I am sure most regulars refer to the boards several times a day this little icon will save precious time.

Additionally if one clicks on the icon instead of the thread title the user is taken directly to the first of the new posts instead of having to scroll/click through pages of already read messeges.

the "view new posts" tab gives you the same thing doesn't it? If you click on that you get the posts that have been made since you lasted visited the site.

You're right though it doesn't do part 2 which is very helpful:

when you've got "new posts" up if you click on the last post and not the thread title you'll go straight to the last post. There may have been a few others since your previous visit but at least you don't have to scroll through from the first post on page 1.

Correct again, but don't you agree that the method I mentioned is far more convenient and I am sure not difficult to code?

After you've clicked on 'new posts' from the blue menu as barjon says, you are then presented with a list of all the threads that are new or have new posts since your last visit.

If you click on the down arrow to the left of these threads, you'll be taken the oldest new post you've yet to view. And you can start reading from there.
