Hello All- I am new here and new to spread betting. I have opened an account with CMC markets, after attending their training session and had some luck and am up by 40%. I will have to say that 50% of my winning is credited to sheer luck, as I did not have any particular game plan. However, the winning aspect has encouraged me to stay in the game and learn.

My question is that my betting choice is limited to US securities and index, as I grew up in US and now based in the UK and am just more comfortable with some of the companies I bet on. I have noticed that the spreads of CMC markets are exuberantly high on some or almost all US securities, including large cap companies such as Wal-Mart, Apple and Northrup Grumman to mention the few. A 15 point spread at entry and exit is large enough to discourage me from increasing my bets substantially, as I am only making small bets for last two weeks.

Which other companies can you recommend that may have a tighter spread in American Securities and do you feel that Technical analysis has helped you in your bets? If so, do you recommend taking any classes and would you happen to know of any training classes in this arena and if someone can recommend the best way of going about and learning how to trade currencies and commodities (in terms of training)? I have learned a lot from this forum and I appreciate any input you guys can provide.

All the best-----

Yes, very good that you recognize you have been lucky. High time to start looking into money management strategies.

I trade the indices with Dealingdesk and ggmarkets, both have got excellent execution.

I would be inclined to agree that Dealing Desk has a very user-friendly platform and fast execution.

However, I do find that the site has propbably more than its fair share of downtime, sometimes at rather unfortunate moments.

By the way, has anyone been having difficulty with IG Index today. I cannot seem to get any charts up and running from their site.

Is there something wrong with the T2W clock ? It is now 12.10 pm and my posts are being recorded as 6 hours previously.

Yes I agree, Dealingdesk is down a little bit too much. It is a new platform, so this is to be expected. However, I have not found any proof of it being deliberately executed from their side. They have got a price feed problem, especially on the Nasdaq Rolling daily this can be noticed from time to time.
