My puzzle about last year gold futures movement

Hello, I am fresh in the trading world. Last year, I tracked and invested in gold for several times, most of them is predict the futures should be soar, cause I believe the serious economic situation and the shaking dollar position which mark the gold price will make gold soaring and dollar dropping, but except the most serious period(the mid of July and mid of September), all the time the gold futures keep low position or dropping. Does all the investor believe the dollar still more valuable or more speculative than gold ? Does anyone has some idea about that? Thank you.

Ive recently heard that the price of gold has been falling. Until now i have only traded currencies. Do any of you who have experince with trading gold recommend that i enter the field? Do you think that prices will begin to rise some time in the near future?
