missing thread ignore lots

by the look i can't ignore any threads now. if we don't like something we should really be allowed to ignore it, and view t2w as we wish. though one can still see all new posts via the main forum page latest posts, i check there to make sure i don't miss any "action"

i do hope this isn't the start of a larger agenda, an all or nothing approach, i haven't checked individual member ignore yet, not as good a function that, as you can still see them, maybe not the post itself but you know they've posted and you see quotes :(

I do not ignore threads, as a rule, but the Wallstreet ones made me do it and I found that I did not waste my time scanning unhelpful bumph. I had good reason, considering the number of them posted every day.

So, who is the T2W person responsible for eliminating the ignore button and for what reason?
 
If the ignore facility has been removed, coupled with the preponderance of intrusive advertising and apparent support of less than ethical posters, it's probably just symptomatic of a general decline of the T2W forum. I suspect that its heyday peaked out a year or so ago and now that so many former contributors seem to have left, it's not such a useful and interesting facility. Like all businesses it will evolve or fail.

The "Ignore thread" cannot, IMO, be eliminated by accident. Therefore, it has to be a policy of T2W to oblige us to decide whether to read the latest pages, whether we want to, or not.

The fact that we, as individuals, wish to organise the time available to us as we think fit does not enter into T2W's interests.

My own answer to this is to log off T2W after every session. Before, I never used to. The extra inconvenience of logging in disciplines me to coming here less frequently and, therefore, wasting less time. The threads that I want to read are less likely to be cluttered with posters who try to be clever.

yes it was the wallstreet threads that started me out on the path of using thread ignore in earnest. allowing 3 threads going on at once was far too much imo. especially where it was so blatently all a hook.

with thread ignore there's complete control, who needs to wait for moderation when you can block out the spammage in an instant, bliss.

to be fair it may be an accidental removal, a tech was on late yesterday, they may have tinkered in another area, which has caused the issue. after all, forum ignore is alive and well, though using that's like throwing out baby with the bathwater.

Good thing the buttons for the book or the forex rebates never seem to have a glitch. What would we do then??

Pboyles: please use the report post function to bring threads like that to the mod team's attention so they can be removed.

LM: thanks for reporting, we'll get it back today. Must have got overlooked when we updated the site design.

UPDATE: Or maybe a more recent change.
 
thanks sharky, yes i believe it a recent change. there now appears to be two ignore managers in usercp, i do think there were attempted improvements in that area, which do look good i have to say. but maybe the update doesn't appear to have gone well?
 
I think you're right LM. I now see the duplicated ignore manager as well, so we'll get that fixed too.
