mIRC and ZONEALARM

I don't know if you can help but I downloaded the mIRC client this evening and had a problem gettiing it to work.

The obvious potential issue was that I'm running ZONEALARM as a firewall on my PC (whcih is connected via a cable modem). When I shut the firewall down the problem disappeared - confirming my suspicions about the cause.

Is there anything I can do to run mIRC behind ZONEALARM?

Hi Darth,

I've never used ZoneAlarm before, but i've had a look on the net and there's some technical support help at http://www.zonealarm.com/services/support_za_all_faq.htm I think you may need to make the program a trusted program in the advanced options for ZoneAlarm. Also in mirc you may need to configure the firewall options -> File - Options - Connect - Firewall - Use Firewall (Im not too sure how to configure this, but i got it running at work behind a firewall so I'll check my settings tomorrow).

thanks for helping Sharky. You are right. I've set the internet security level from high to medium and it works now...
