Metastock directly from Equis

I am in the process of purchasing my first charting software.
After some research it would appear that Metastock 8.0 could work for me.
I got in touch with Equis in the US directly and they told me they would be prepared to sell the software to a UK resident. With the current GBP/US exchange rate it would appear cheaper to buy the software from the US rather than from a vendor in the UK.
Has anybody done this already?
Also, can anybody suggest any alternative to Metastock 8.0?
Thanks in advance for your help on this.

You might like to check on the total cost of buying from Equis. You'll be liable for tax for a start, and Equis will provide the customs chaps with the info to ensure you get billed for this - I think it's the 17.5% VAT you pay, but it's around that figure anyway.... I've had developer kit+MS8 direct so I can't split off the cost for MS8 on its own. You might also have a fair sized bill for delivery - updating the dev kit a couple of weeks ago cost me $100 (less a few cents) for the CD and A5 manual, they then billed me something like $55 delivery and sent it via a courier.
Some or all of the above you can expect to pay on top of the price on the box!

Dave,
thanks for the tip.
I will keep that in mind in deciding where to buy the software from.
