Just wondering if anyone knows of any prop houses or firms that specialise in metals, more on the basic side rather than precious.
I got told about a company called manro hayden but all i could for them was a telephone number

Try the LME ring dealers - they are the best for base metals by a mile.
Man Financial, or man global or whatever they call themselves now, Sucden, Natexis, or Natixis or whatever they are as well :) They are some of the better ones, but there are a few - JPM, barcap, AMT, SNC.. and EDF Man all trade on the floor.
Sempra do as well.
On the prop side, I think Marex have a few prop traders, and they trade on the floor as well. Metdist and triland might also have prop traders...
Hope that is of some use :)

doubt it's much use, but I met a base metals prop trader in Gib, so you can trade it remote, but I dont know where he was...

The only problem with that is that remotely you have to trade via Select, and for certain periods, all the liquidity is on the floor. That is changing though, so it is still worth looking into... Currently all the sett. prices are driven by the floor, and most of the size is transacted there.

On the flipside - lehman, and thinking about it, I think maybe JPM?!? But Citigroup and a load of others dont trade the floor, and they are big players, so not like you absolutely have to. Depends how you are going to trade the market I guess...

manro are very active in base (also fund a pro poker team).
there are many funds, banks and prop shops out there in base.
