I have reported your abuse to Aweber and every time you spam our boards with your rubbish I will report it again.

Sooner or later they will ban you.

I suggest we have a thread where we name and shame all these spam newsletters. Once the original spam posts have been deleted the only reference to them will be on the name and shame thread. That way when someone googles them it will come up as a scam meaning the posting of such nonsense will be counterproductive to the idiots.

And I'd like to start by highlighting canadapicks as a spam newsletter. Do not subscribe to this it is a most likely a ripoff connected to smallcap share fraud.

And of course pennystockmagic which is yet another spam newsletter.

People do find there way back onto the forum after a ban. I think if its possible, it may be more effective to let the user continue posting and from the users pov everything stays the same, however in reality his/her posts no longer show on the form. Kind of like a ignore feature for all users.

The key to this is getting the autoresponder company they use to ban them which is what I am attempting to do. They use Aweber which is very sensitive to its users spamming people as it is their reputation at risk. I will wait and see what happens.

Nice one Paul. I still think my idea might be a good thing to do for site members though...

Good idea.
I believe aweber will act appropriately. They are used by many legitimate companies for email campaigns to opt-in members, subscribers, etc.

mmm, I don't think this is a good idea since I think they are totally without shame :devilish: and by posting links to their sites you give them precisely the gateway that they are after. i've edited the links btw.

Usually they go away when we're quick to pick them off since the effort isn't worthwhile. This current lot are very persistent though.

All their efforts are reported automatically to the Anti-Spam Service and when they try to re-register under a different name from the same address our multi-nick bot re-bans them.

cheers

Bruceparham is the latest username, posting the same crap about pennystockmagic

We're getting 3 or 4 of them a day now. Minor annoyance when checking for updated threads and they all have the same nic last updating them.

Paul/Tim and mods,
I just sent a "report this thread" message about pssonice. I won't rehash it here but in my opinion he is much worse than the spammers. He is just abusive, especially to new or low post members who may be intimidated and not want to post further.

Sorry if this post is not appropriate here, please delete it if that's the case.

Thanks,

Peter

Hi Peter,
I'm sure everyone will second these sentiments. Certainly, I'm well aware of pssonice's antics. Friendly messages from me and the mods requesting him to modify his behaviour have had zero effect. He is to T2W what ati-social 'yoof' are to the real world. The latter are well known to Police and have trophy cabinets stuffed to the gunnels with ASBOs but, sadly, in practical terms there's not much that can be done about them. In pssonice's case, he's not (yet) managed to acrue a sufficient number of infraction points to warrant a total ban. Suffice to say, his cards are marked and his days are numbered unless there's a U-turn in his attitude and posting habits.
Tim.
